I'm wanting to do something a little different than my usual. What do you all usually do with yours?

Seriously, I pretty much keep it traditional. potato, carrots, celery, onions. I also use about 5 garlic gloves and some thyme. I also use some red wine.

I don't like pot roast. Did you buy the meat already? If not, you should make a brisquit instead.

It's already half cooked. I don't have good luck with brisket.

My mom used to always make a Sicilian pot roast -- brown and cook as normal, but then let it simmer in sauce (homemade, of course) for a couple of hours and serve with pasta.

I think i've seen Rachel Ray make one like that. She also served it with polenta.

No it's in a slow cooker, not a crock pot. (Are you really the Pot Roast King?)

I do almost the same except I use 1 can of Coke instead of the red wine and I don't use thyme. I love my crock pot.

Add a pack of Lipton's onion soup mix.

Evan

In the crock pot
1 cup of breef broth
2 cans of cream of mushroom soup (I hate mushrooms but this works real well)
1 packet of lipton soup mix
Mix it

Pot Roast
Trim it of excess fat
Salt & Pepper then braise it (meaning fry it real fast on each side in a pan to seal in the flavor)

Put in the crockpot on low for 6 to 8 hours. When there is about 1 hour left I dump in a can of mixed veggies.

It will be so tender you can cut it with a spoon.

Easy and the best you have ever had.

Costs maybe $20 to do all of this.

I throw in some veggies, peas, corn, carrots, squash, onions, and then I shred the roast.

Place over white bread top with brown gravy and have veggies on the side.

Take one raccoon, one onion, 4 cloves of garlic, 1 cup of chopped celery, 2 lbs of potatoes and chicken broth.

Season with salt, pepper, cayenne, and a touch of nutmeg.

Slow cook for 4 hours and serve.

That's a cajun feast.

Raccoon? I thought they only made decent fajitas. I probably won't try either.......

1. Cook the pot roast.
2. Throw it out and let the dogs eat it.
3. Whomp up some BBQ brisket instead.

That is NOT carnitas.

That is some abortion called "beef carnitas" they make here in SA.

It basically "carne asada" all cut up.

It tastes nothing like carnitas.

At 7:45 AM, I pour two cans of beef bullion in a crock pot, add potatoes, carrots, celery and the pot roast. Add seasonings to include oregano. Cook on low heat. Then when I come home in the evening I have dinner for three already made.

I make mine fairly similarly to everyone else, but I sear the roast first seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic & rosemary in a little olive oil ... and since no one in my house likes potatoes or carrots cooked that way, I just add a bunch of mushrooms to it and make rice & a salad. :spin

I've never seen that. I guess because you called it an abortion means it doesn't taste good?
