yall played awesome...our D was solid but there were times where yall couldn't miss. Playing Artest might have actually taking some of that away from yall tonight...Look forward to seeing yall next year.

Pretty funny to hear announcers celebrate a squeak out win against a non-playoff team missing three starters.

Yes - as your owner said when they interviewed him. You have a great core of young talented players - they just need a couple of years experiencing and they can probably make some noise in the Western Conference.

Exhale.
Wow, how did we let them get 2 trey attempts that last Kings possession.
Nice win Spurs. Are we auto 3rd seed now irregardless of how we play Utah in the reg final? There will be a thread about it. :spin

I'm impressed with the heart the Kings displayed. They still got a great crowd. Hopefully they can figure out what to do with Artest and go from there.

I think the Duncan-Crawford incident is gonna impact Duncan alot longer than anyone thought.
Hmmmmmm... interesting.
Are guys like Howard and KG getting calls? I just assumed it was the rules interpretation changes favouring penetration and disadvantaging bigmen.

I'll take the win. Good win because it now opens up possibilities for us. Now we can start running scenarios for that last game against Utah.

I don't see how this was a cheap win. We played a very determined younger team that had no pressure what so ever to win. They threw everything but the kitchen sink at us and we prevailed. Every team has good players on them...or they wouldn't be pro....just because they don't have a great record doesn't make them pushovers. It's a solid win on the road.

I don't think the rule changes have hurt bigmen so much as helped perimeter players. Stoudamire is still finding a way to score chingos points. :(

Oh enough with that
A) The entire situation was Crawford's fault
B) They won the title last year, everyone was freaking out that we were going to get screwed in the playoffs and we won it all.

I thought so, but it could actually end up a 4 way tie between Jazz, Spurs, Rockets, Suns.

Interesting. If we lose Wed, and the Rockets win, and the Suns lose, we'll be the 4th seed, and the Rockets will be the 5th. If we win, and the Rockets lose, and the Suns win, we'll be the 3rd seed with the 6th seed Rockets. Spurs should keep a close eye on scores to figure out what to do. Either way, I'm thinking we need to get the Rockets.

Damn straight.
We can beat the Rockets. If we get the Suns and Manu isn't 100%, we're done. Even if he is we're in deep trouble against them.
A confidence-boosting series against the Rockets is exactly what we need to have a hope in this year's playoffs.

i don't think there can really be any ties. after record, you have head-to-head matchups and conference records as tie-breakers. you also have to factor in divisional winners, who are guaranteed a top 4 seed, right?

It would be great to get the Rockets in the 1st round; however, I like T-Mac and it would be sorta sad to be the team to dash his hopes of ever getting past the 1st round.

This has been a lot of help trying to figure out the West. :dizzy
http://www.nba.com/features/seedingprimer07.html
The top four seeds will be the three division winners plus the team with the next best record. Those four will be ordered by record (and tiebreakers if needed), so it's possible that two teams in the same division could hold the top two spots, with the other two division winners at Nos. 3 and 4.
Seeds 5 through 8 are the next four teams according to record (and tiebreakers if needed).
First Round matchups are as follows:
1 vs. 8
4 vs. 5
2 vs. 7
3 vs. 6
Conference Semifinals matchups are as follows:
1-8 Winner vs. 4-5 Winner
2-7 Winner vs. 3-6 Winner
Homecourt advantage for any series is determined by record, not seed. So, it's possible that the 5 seed could have homecourt advantage over the 4, or that the 6 seed could have homecourt advantage over the 3.
Tiebreakers
(1) Head-to-head
(2) Division record (if the teams are in the same division)
(3) Conference record
(4) Record vs. Playoff teams, own conference
(5) Record vs. Playoff teams, other conference
(6) Net points, all games

Yes, but Stoudamire isn't a back-to-the-basket bigman - he faces up and goes to the hole, or recieves drop-offs from Nash. (I mentioned KG because he's played in the post more this season)

Houston finished at home against the Clippers.... so chalk them down
Phoenix should beat Portland at home
Im gonna go ahead and say Utah will beat us for a multitude of reasons i wish not to admit on a public forum :).
That would leave... (Conference Record in backets)
3. Utah 55-27 (34-18)
4. Houston 55-27 (33-19)
5. San Antonio 55-27 (32-20)
6. Phoenix 55-27 (31-21)
To be honest with you, i would take that over a 3-6 matchup with Pheonix given our current state...
I just cant see Rockets losing to the Clips at home and going down to 6th...
I think thats what is going to happen... and ill take it contently.

More Than Two Teams Tied
(1) Better winning percentage in all games among the tied teams.
(2) Better winning percentage against teams in own division (only if all tied teams are in the same division).
(3) Better winning percentage against teams in own conference.
(4) Better winning percentage against teams eligible for playoffs in own conference (including teams that finished the regular season tied for a playoff position).
(5) Better net result of total points scored less total points allowed against all opponents (“point differential”).
Pho vs Hou 2-2
Pho vs SA 3-1
SA vs Hou 2-2
Pho vs Uta 1-2
Uta vs SA 3-1 (if Utah beat SA wednesday)
Uta vs Hou 2-1
Phoenix 6-5 = 54 %
Utah 7-3 = 70 %
San Antonio 4-8 = 33 %
Houston 5-6 = 45 %
So it is
3. Utah
4. Phoenix
5. Houston
6. San Antonio

So that is the 4 way tie scenario? If so thanks for posting that up as I've been asking how u determine it. Conference record is the 1st tie breaker in that scenario?
What happens if Utah has wants to play Houston and they try and lose against us?

I would love nothing more than to see two teams trying to out tank each other in the final game of the season.
best part would be if Pop brought out an all scrub lineup to start the fourth, no one on the outside could accuse him of losing on purpose!

Did you see Pop yelling at Duncan at the end when he didn't get Finley the ball earlier when there was like 14 seconds left. Duncan looked to Finley, then Parker, then Finley, then Parker, and that's when Pop came running and was screaming at Duncan to get Finley the ball. By that time Finley was covered though he should have called a timeout or something. But I couldn't believe Duncan made such an error cause Finley would have got it across the halfcourt line and protected the ball should a double-team come. That play gave me heart trouble.
Glad they got the win and it was good to see Barry return.

On the postgame comments on ESPN.com:
"It's been the way we have lost lately, games have been getting away from us," Spurs reserve forward Ime Udoka said. "We've gone through some scoring droughts, so it was good to get over 100 points tonight."
Still, the victory left no one in the Spurs' locker room giddy. Tim Duncan left for the team bus almost immediately after the game and didn't talk to the media, and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was brief in his comments, talking about the Kings and not his team.
The Spurs will have a day at home to regroup, then face Utah on Wednesday night with revenge in mind.
"We remember what they did to us a few weeks ago," Udoka said.

Other than TP, not impressive at all. It was only the Kings :depressed. For God's sake, if you can't kick the crap out of the Kings a few days before the playoffs start (and yes this was a meaningful game...or shoulda been), then you've got a few lingering "issues".

Mike Finley is a fucking retard for not calling a TO what the fuck was that
I couldn't have cursed Finley any louder on this play. A fine demonstration of the so-called "veteran experience" that is supposed to give an edge to the "oldest team in the league".
...and what's up with all those cross-court, piss-poor passes they kept throwing and the Kings kept intercepting in the 4th quarter?

Tim has been whining all season for calls, and I agree with him that he gets none these days, but why won't he wake up and adjust to the fact that he's not going to get them any more?
...you know his act is getting really old when Spurs fans get tired of it.
Damn Tim! Get your head outta your ass. Also, try dunking the damn ball when you're around the rim, instead of those soft-ass putbacks of yours.

Tim always whines for calls but last night he got ripped a few times and did not get calls. It is a little hard to adjust to not getting the same calls you have got your whole career suddenly a decade into it. There has to be some reason for it and no i am not buying into the whole backlash for Joey Asshole Crawford fiasco.

Boozer, foul? That's laughable. He doesn't get near enough to the guy he's supposed to be guarding in order to get a foul.
