Nice tanking job by the Jazz tonight :lol They almost made it look like they were trying.

They suck on the road bu the Rockets will be an easy series for them

I think Houston can win this series, as the Jazz stink on the road...17-24 is a terrible road record, and shows that if anything neither the Jazz nor the Rockets are really contenders.

That being said....I think the Rockets could squeak by with home court advantage...but I would put the series at 50/50....

The only reason we have a chance without Yao....is Luis Scola, he is nails.

Definitely Rox, they've already shown what they can do without Yao, and Rick's a great coach. They're lucky to get home court though or they'd be fishing after the 1st. round again.

Rockets had an awesome season despite everything but they just don't have enough starpower to win a series.

Yet another early exit notched on TMac's first round belt. But it's certainly not his fault...you can only do so much without another star player.

Jazz will win in 6 (assuming the Spurs hold on tonight):

Jazz will steal one on the road I think.

I honestly thought that Sloan would try and win tonight too..........but that would just be sheer stupidity to take on the Spurs when you can tank and play the Rox.

Because they're 5-7 deep, two of which are rookies. Your second best player is Carl freaking Landry and I don't think TMac is nearly as good as Rocket fans still think.

That doesn't mean he is our second best player. Scola has been the most consistent, and had 22/10/4 today. Landry had 4/3.

If Mcgrady gets off to a sub par start this series will be over soon. This guy has to feel like he has a 500 lb gorila on his back. Thats one monkey that won't be easy to get off. This one is the toughest series to pick for me. Jazz are a different team on the road and Rockets(no yao) has dropped off radar since the streak ended. I am guessing Jazz in 6 but I wouldn't bet on it.

The streak went on for 11 for games after Yao went down. So, how exactly did the Rockets drop off? They had a above .500 record after the streak and were inline with other playoff West teams at that.

You asked for it. Because the Rockets suck. Fuck your little emotion driven run. You don't have a good pg... even if Alston was healthy. Your center is 219 years old. Your PF plays no defense and is a an Argentinian rookie in his late twenties. Carl Landry? Shane Battier is nothing special anyway, but in addition he's playing hurt and is almost entirely ineffective because of it. T-Mac is a league wide punchline in terms of the playoffs. Get. A. Clue.

I say none of this as a Jazz fan. I say it as an NBA fan. You could be playing anyone 1-8; I'd say the exact same thing. So would everyone else who knows even a marginal amount about NBA basketball.

It got a little interesting there in the 3rd quarter but after the timeout (and a Sloan butt chewing) we turned it around. This could either be a sweep or we'll figure the hard work is out of the way and drag this into a 6 game series. I hope our guys don't think they can just win the home games now. I'd love to see us come out and get game 2 as well.

On the other hand Houston knows they must win a game in SLC which could demoralize them just thinking of that. Maybe they'll mail it in thinking that way. I doubt it but it would be nice to end this series asap and watch the Nuggets/Lakers go 7 games.

One thing I will say about Houston...I'd LOVE to have Shane Battier on our team. He's really the only player on Houston I like.

Indazone

Yeah my worst fears are coming true. We are really getting exposed without Yao and then Adleman goes and pulls Deke out of the game after a monster block and we had momentum on our side. Like WTF. Scola Bobby Jackson and Brooks played terrible and didn't make their shots. We got outrebounded. Could be a short series but then, I am proud of them whatever happens. The Rockets are really banged up right now and could really use Alston, Francis, Yao.

Harry Callahan
04-20-2008, 12:34 PM
It looks to me like Mutombo has to cover for a lot of defensive errors by other frontcount players.

For all the nice things Scola does on the offensive end and rebounding, he is a terrible one on one defender in the post. Boozer showed him a few things last night.
