Yes.

At Hemisfair '68.

The Monorail at the World's Fair did derail once and killed one person.

One more byproduct of Hemisfair '68 for Spurs fans... an arena was built for the World's Fair: The Hemisfair Arena.

If there's no Hemisfair '68, there's no Hemisfair Arena and the Dallas Chapparals would not have moved here in 1973.

It's all connected.

Gotdam that arena sucked ass! The one game I saw there I had a seat with an obstructed view.

Lyle Lanley would be proud. I wonder if Lyle Larson (http://www.lylelarson.org/) is his human equivalent.

That one even pays homage to the 1990s KTFM days with the music.

Also, Hemisfair was also instrumental in deveolping the Riverwalk.

Chris, don't you remember when the Rockets played many of their home games here in the Arena in the 1971 and 1972 seasons and were seriously thinking about moving here because of low attendance in Houston? We had large crowds show up here. It almost happened. That is what planted the seed for the original ownership group to lease/buy the Chaps and move them here. We could have been the San Antonio Rockets.

In fact the Rockets also played games in Waco and had more people show up for fire & brimestone church services than watch the Rockets play.
