If you look on the NIOSA website it says it is pronounced KNEE-osa, but since I pay for my tickets and entry, I will call it whatever the hell I want and that is NIGH-osa.

I know those Conservation Society Nazis call it Nee-osa, but I swear to God, when I went for the first time in 1973 (and was able to drink beer freely at the age of 12 - not that I'm proud of my juvenile delinquency, but it shows you what a different time it was back then), no one called it Nee-osa. It was Nigh-osa, 100%.

I don't know when these cutesy local peeps decided to change the way we're supposed to say it, but I'm sticking with the way I first heard it as a drunken 12-year-old! :cooldevil
