Holy cow.

The Suns have gone from unbeatable to snake bit in the amount of a week.

IMO this shows againt he benefit of bench depth.

Lets say Udrih and Parker GOD FORBID
get hurt in practice.

Brent Barry slides right in, hes had point guard experience before, and its

Barry
Ginobili
Duncan
Nesterovic
Bowen

Now that, is once again, a good starting 5.

But what is key is, Wilks is decent enough to give 10 solid minutes without sucking ass, and Devin Brown can step up as evidenced in the past.

Phoenix?? Is Joe Johnson, and Shawn Marion gonna share the duties????

If both are out of any kind of time, Popovich has the WC ASG Coaching assignment wrapped up.

Dammit, I'm really sorry for PHX, nobody deserves that.

And I'm really sorry for playoff intensity and anticipatory delight lost around Friday's game.

But before anybody starts racking up @PHX in the Spurs' W column, the Spurs have lost 6 road games to playoff teams that aren't as good as PHX has been.

Spurs will still have to play very well to win this game. @PHX is still a test of Spurs non-existent road toughness.

Hey if Nash is out for the next 20 games they would still be in the playoff hunt later in the year....so I'd wait until he's good and healthy before bringing him home...expect the suns to sign some players or try to trade for Arroyo

exstatic
01-18-2005, 05:52 PM
If I'm Utah, they don't get Arroyo for less than one of their starters. Why help the competition?

Kori Ellis
01-18-2005, 06:06 PM
Because Arroyo is bitching to the press and he's their third string point guard. So they might want to deal him just so he doesn't start locker room problems.

Steve Nash, practicing for the first time since suffering a bruised thigh in a game Friday, collided with Leandro Barbosa on Tuesday afternoon, injuring his back.

Nash was suffering from back spasms and is scheduled to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging test this afternoon.

Barbosa injured his left ankle and was on crutches. Details of the injuries were unavailable, but the status of both players is uncertain for Wednesday's home game against Memphis.

Joe Johnson would start at point guard for the Suns if neither Nash nor Barbosa could play.

The Suns (31-8) have lost four straight games and led San Antonio, their opponent at America West Arena on Friday night, by a half-game in the Western Conference

"The Suns have gone from unbeatable to snake bit in the amount of a week"

First, the Suns had just lost when Nash went down and were facing a tough stretch no guarantees.

2nd = since when were they unbeatable? Vs. Spurs they looked pretty average at best. Snakebit they may be but maybe it was also foolish to have Nash and Barbosa going at it hard when Nash was supposedly nursing an injury.

3rd = I agree that I want Nash healthy and would not want to play a "wounded dog" team but this Sun team has not showed any mental toughness so far despite two all stars.

No mercy Spurs.

Sounds like sarcasm...I was also thinking why the fuck they were going at it hard in practice who knows, barbosa is what 21 sometimes a little spazzy and probably got out of control...I think it was dumb to get rid of Howard Eisley, but they did...Oh well hopefully this get them mental toughness, because you can only get it when you have rough times....Still not down, 2 pac gotta keep your head up,

As for Manu, well, they say Kobe will only be out for 2 weeks, he has a lot of competition-Allen is one. But if Pops will coach I can see them playing. Let's see. :elephant :elephant :elephant

Parker ought to be selected to the ASG, with Nash out and the way he's playing. He really ought to be selected.

spursfaninla

It doesn't sound like a serious injury to Nash. He get's back spasms sometimes, and he did not (evidently) really injure it, just aggrevate it.

It sounds like he will be back in action soon to me.

And as for the AS game, you have to beat sg's as well as pg's, they select them all together, so I doubt that parker gets it over Nash, assuming Mcgrady and Kobe can't go for some reason...

back injurys are lingering...anyone remember that DRob's back injury limited him from being the same player he was prior to the injury. I know it was a floating particle that would have big Dave sitting out a few games due to numbness in his legs.

I wonder how Nash's injury will affect his performance for the rest of the season?

Kori Ellis
01-18-2005, 11:29 PM
It wasn't because of major contact or anything that Nash got injured. He was practicing because he was schedule to play tomorrow. It was a freak thing. Barbosa stepped on Nash's foot and sprained his ankle and somehow at the same time Nash twisted his back. After one hour of treatment, Nash still couldn't move. So I'm guessing he'll be out a couple games at least.

Nash is out of game shape (sitting out 3 games and over 30). I think Tony, Beno, Barry and Devin can work on Nash to prevent him from being effective if he does play on Friday. Any thoughts? Buller...anyone?

spursfaninla
01-19-2005, 12:24 AM
I don't think Nash will be out of "game shape." He is not the greatest defender anyway, as evidenced by Tony's destroying him last game. The more serious question will be how well he initiates their offense; if he can pass, jump shoot and drive, he will do the most damage that way. If he can't, he is not very effective.

T Park
01-19-2005, 12:26 AM
I think Tony Parker's defense has improved to the point, where you can start thinking, that the opposing point guard could have an offnight.

Barbosa stepped on Nash's foot when Nash changed direction on him. The "freak accident," as D'Antoni called it, left the Suns browsing the National Basketball Development League in search of temporary backcourt help.

Six-foot-1 Omar Cook, who played one season at St. John's, was an Orlando second-round pick in 2001, and 6-4 Smush Parker, who played 11 games with Detroit earlier this season, are possible 10-day contract candidates.

It sounds like Nash's back has seriously cramped up solid.

In my own repeated experiences, hardly unique, a back that tight can take 2 or more weeks to be completely pain free and loosened up, but that's for a civilian, not a pro ball player.

( Back pain researchers say that all (non-chronic) back cramps goes away in about 2 weeks, no matter what is done, or not done, as therapy. Time is best for healing a cramped back. )

It really sucks that winning @PHX Friday will have an *.

But, it will be payback time @SAC Sunday, and @SEA the Friday after.

Ah, I forgot Smush was out there again. Omar still doesn't seem like enough of a shooter to fit.
