I just heard on WOAI that after the Sacramento game, Pop took the team into the state capitol building in Sacramento and went ballistic on the team and thats why they came out on fire against Utah.... If true, I hope that fire stays lit.

It's true. I was there, listening in. I wouldn't say he went ballistic, it was more like a "spirited intervention".

Keep telling that to yourself.

San Antonio Express-News

Gregg Popovich sensed it was time to confront his team. This is how the story begins.
Popovich knew the Spurs wouldn't survive in the playoffs the way they were going, so he had the team bus pull over in Sacramento last week on the way to the airport. There, as one Spur said, Popovich "said some things that needed to be said."

But in the rotunda? Of the California Capitol?

"I'm gonna have to be Oliver North on this one," said another Spur, smiling. "I can't recall."

The military espionage in Popovich has rubbed off on his team. Others were equally forgetful, but no one denied the setting or the speech. And when the Spurs zoomed out in the regular-season finale against the Jazz, as if Popovich's words still echoed in the rotunda, the story adds to the reputation of someone with four NBA championships.

Wow.

I at first pushed it off as BS, but damn, took the bus from the arena and drove back to downtown wich is almost 30 mins away, chewing them out, then going back to the airport?

Good move if it works.

Little talks and bus rides aren't going to matter. Trust me.

BTW folks, downtown is not on the way to the airport from the arena.

The arena is close to the airport, but way the hell and gone out in the middle of nowhere.

If they DID, go back to downtown at the capital, then Pop had that preplanned or precalculated if you will.

Good move if it works.

Pop always seems to know how to handle them. I think it's a good bet that it worked.

Ring smack again huh. Weak sauce. Keep living in the past. There are no more rings for the Spurs in David Stern's script.
