It's a good thing Kansas State's annual spring game is nothing more than a glorified practice, because after Saturday night's performance, it's a safe bet that the Wildcats need more of it before the fall.
With offense at a premium, the White team played to a 3-0 win over the Purple squad in front of a little more than 15,000 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
Both offenses combined for only 204 yards and the first score didn't come until the early fourth quarter when Josh Cherry made a 51-yard field goal on his second attempt from that distance.
"In terms of the play book, we stayed on the first page," said the junior-to-be quarterback Josh Freeman, who defended the poor showing. "We weren't really doing a whole lot in terms of attacking the defense downfield. For the most part, we just kept it real vanilla and tried to grind it out."
Freeman played only two drives for the White team, completing 1-of-4 passes for nine yards, including an interception to Gary Chandler in the first quarter.

Bold and Daring, indeed. I can't wait for the fall.
