I'm sure his highly competent, career profesionals, oops, Repug tools have their grimy, venal fingers on the nation's food supply.

When you thought dubya was running out of time to fuck up, he just won't die.

"Mr. Rawles said it is hard to know how much of the shortages are due to lagging supply and how much is caused by consumers hedging against future price hikes or a total lack of product."

Yeah...since the article makes no claims on the cause and can only speculate, blame it on Bush. Beats critical thinking. :rolleyes

Yeah, it was W. who brought us the bright idea of ethanol fuel and came up with the subsidies for our farmers. Try again, numbnuts.

And to top it all off, you think Obama's socialist and fascist policy ideas are the answers. :lol Really, I'm looking forward to standing in line for toilet paper if he gets elected to the Oval Office.

"who brought us the bright idea of ethanol fuel"

dubya didn't bring any "idea". He's pumping $50B subsidies into ethanol which is horrible, counter-productive "idea", except for those receiving the "socialistic/corporate welfare" subsidies. Wonderfully, corn farmers, even with corn prices at historic highs, are switching to soy beans because the prices are even higher.

EVERYTHING dubya has touched has turn to stinkin shit.

You're right on about the subsidies. Corn is not the answer...it's just an ez way to Ethanol but it's horribly inefficient.

BTW...your congressmen/congresswomen have more to do with the subsidy issue than Bush.

Not defending Bush...he's in waay over his head.
But c'mon...at least try to be accurate.

i don't this is government mandated food rationing. people that blame bush for everything are funny. i hope they all have their "i heart michael moore" shirt in the mail. the main problem is all these global warming/environmentalist yahoos that every elected official is trying please these days. just look at our wheat futures. we're actually going to have start importing wheat. importing wheat!!! i can't wait for the china lead-laced wheat variety. i wonder if that UG99 fungus will cooperate with that whole dealing. oh im sorry. let me channel boutons "thinking". i hope the bush administration shows pity on the world and doesnt release the UG99 fungus to all wheat fields.:donkey

You're really a dumbass. Congress is the one who came up with the ridiculous subsidies for ethanol. About the only fault of Bush's is not vetoing it, but then again people on both sides of the aisle got the kickbacks from the agricultural lobby, so everyone (in D.C.) won. The rest of us just got fucked over.

But don't let that get in the way of your bigoted Bush bashing. You really are a stupid son of a bitch.

Ok, now that was accurate. Bush could have done more to fight against stupid spending, but for some reason his energies were directed elsewhere...

Nobody forced dubya to sign the insane bill subsidizing corn ethanol. He could have lead and vetoed it, but the corps would have been furious.

Just amazing and humrous how dubya escapes all accountability for the shit that happens on his watch.

What insane bill was that? Alot of these handouts are enacted as amendments to bills and earmarks. Dude, these subsidies started in 1978. As evil as you think Bush to be, he did not build a time-machine and go back to 78 to start this ball rolling.
Again, please try just a little critical thinking. It's good for you.

Where did W. escape any accountability? Did you even read what I wrote, or are you just going to get your panties in a bunch because the facts got in the way of your Bush hating.

Yeah, Bush signed the bill that gave us the ethanol mandate, but Congress is the one who authored and passed it, and that includes your precious little Obama.

In fact, he was one of the ones pushing for the bill and threw in a couple of amendments to it.

Ho ho ho...

http://obama.senate.gov/press/050729-_obama_says_energy_bill_helps_/

He even threw in some pork to hook up a couple of universities in his state with research money on ethanol. Yay!

Has anybody heard how dubya's Exec has been preparing for this predicted, foreseeable food crisis, and are ready to step forward as Leader of the World and work with other countries to save 100s of millions of lives. Didn't think so.

Watch the repleateady lying, incompetent Repug bastards in the Exec step up to plate and bat themselves in the balls again.

Right. The ethanol scam has screwed alot of people over. Because of our environmentalists, millions are going to bed hungry because they can't afford enough corn to feed them (or the meat that eats the corn, and so on). I hope both parties end this boondoggle ASAP and turn to a reliable, cheap source of fuel that we already have -- petroleum.

And, how is food rationing a new thing?

We rationed all kinds of things during World War II. Hell, ask XRay -- he'll tell you about the ration coupons.

I'm not familiar with any environmentalists who were pushing to divert U.S. food production to biofuels. There were, however, three large multinational corporations, a bunch of lobbyists, a majority of Congresspeople from both parties, and a President who thought it to be a splendid idea. We can make insane amounts of money and pretend to do something for the environment at the same time!

And so, the government of the United States of America is going to kill millions, if not tens of millions of people by starvation worldwide, for no reason other than its own stupid meddling in the agricultural economy. In the 21st century, we can do with a single act of Congress what it used to take global pandemics or protracted devastating world wars several years to accomplish! Yay progress!

Apparently our solution to global warming is going to be to implement policies whose consequences in terms of human suffering are worse than those of global warming in the first place. Awesome.

And, how is food rationing a new thing?

We rationed all kinds of things during World War II. Hell, ask XRay -- he'll tell you about the ration coupons.

Funny thing, I just read it the other day. Much of the
rationing done during WWII was really not necessary. But
FDR and his bunch thought it was necessary (and maybe
they were right) so people would think they were sacrificing for the war effort. I mean you hear all the
junk now about how we are not putting our full effort into
the war on terror.

And yes their were coupons for everything. But best I
can remember it really didn't affect things that much in
my small hometown, except for sugar which was needed
for canning. My Grandmother got into trouble with the
rationing board because she sold milk, butter, eggs and
fresh veggies from her farm and didn't get the coupons
for the butter. Hell the cows didn't care about them, they
freely gave the milk without them.:lol Also best I can
remember she never did take them and stayed in hot
water, but she was a hard nose old gal and told them to
stick it.

And we killed our own stock every year, so meat was
not a problem. Now the folks back in the East in the
big cities, they had a problem I understand.

One other thing. Their first time I was in England was right after WWII and you
needed coupons for candy (sweets coupons, they called them). But we would
"sweet" talk the gals at the candy counter in the movies into selling us candy without
them. Yeah, I was young once.....and did those sort of things.

Yes. I was a bit simplistic in my post. Yours is more accurate, although I am sure there were environmentalists who thought it was a good idea, as well, to turn corn into gasoline.

What a scam! I hope heads roll over this one, from both parties.

What a scam! I hope heads roll over this one, from both parties.this is all just an electing stance all these stupid ass elected officials are using to get their votes from stupid assed voters that think this will solve something. voters are easily to blame as the people up for election. from top to bottom. it's all for money and power. we need a revolution. no i'm not a ron paul supporter, but i hope feel see what kind of "change" is coming our way. yes i "hope" we can.
