choked? the dude was worn out from carrying his team the first 3 quarters. i'm pretty sure duncan would get worn out without manu and parker in the playoffs. t-mac was the only reason why we didn't get run over.

Tim COMPLETELY carried the Spurs for the entire 1st half and had enough in him to drop 9 points on the Suns in the 1st OT, including that 3. Great players make the great shots, it doesn't matter how tired they are.

But I guess in T-Mac's case you have somewhat of an argument. The poor guy has just too many things wrong with his body right now, he's a shell of his former self scoring-wise.

Btw, since when was Tracy such an average FT shooter?

You can't blame T mac for this one. I honestly think the turning point in the game was when Adelman took Brooks out. Utah did not have an answer for him. He was finishing at the rim and when he didn't he was finding the open man. Take him out and now you just have one man who can create off the dribble(Tmac). If shit is working you ride it until it doesn't. Saying Tmac should take over with three men in his face is just retarded. He needs help and he was getting it from Brooks. His penetration was making the game easier for everyone including Mcgrady. They should have won this game and pissed it away at the end and this one I put on the coach. He said it himself that sometimes you have to sacrifice a little defense for offense and chose not to do that. Tmac played well he just ran out of gas at the end. That happens when you have one man responsible for carrying a whole team. You Laker Fags should understand that better than anyone the these past few years.

I'm going to have to take back my T-mac choked line. He probably did just run out of gas like someone mentioned. I just remembered a game we had last year where I scored 23 through 3 quarters and it just took a toll. My bad and props to T-Mac for carrying a limping Rox team.

Utah matches up so poorly with LA.

They dont have a strong perimeter defender to even contain Kobe. Brewer and AK are long but cant move nearly well enough laterally to even bother Kobe.

Then on the other end Odom and Gasol's length WILL affect Carlos Boozer. And if Bynum comes back by then? Oh my...

Lakers in 5. I agree they have the easiest path to the WCF. Nice to see that the team with the 1 seed actually earned something (easy road with 2 cakewalk matchupss in the first and 2nd).

Utah plays over their heads against Houston. They are not such world beaters against the Spurs or Lakers...Good, but flawed team.

You'd think so; Kirilenko's a very average to below-average defender against wing guards.

But then this is the Kobe Bryant who's being shut down by Denver's old, post-knee-surgery power forward; whose head Tayshaun Prince (even less athletic than Martin) routinely gets into. It's mental with him; too often he chooses to be soft and chuck up jumpshots.

If Bryant shoots below 40% from the field, the Jazz could maybe win.

Are you talking about TMac or Bryant?

Bryant's game isn't jumper heavy. He has a great balance of driving and shooting and posting up as well.

Tayshaun moved much better laterally than AK47, esp the Tay of 2004.

Bryant isn't being shut down by KMart. He shot poorly in Game 1, but that's just 1 game. It's a 7 game series and Kobe will adjust to whoever is guarding him and attack accordingly. I guarantee you he will not end this series shooting 40%.

Are you a Bryant hater?

DazedAndConfused
04-22-2008, 12:41 AM
Kobe is still human, I thought he settled for jumpers too much against Martin too. He'll come back with a strong game on Wed., you can guarantee that.

Bob Lanier
04-22-2008, 12:46 AM
Are you a Bryant hater?
No, not at all. This was just one of the worst games I've ever seen him play, in a situation where he should not be struggling.

Bryant's game isn't jumper heavy. He has a great balance of driving and shooting and posting up as well.
Ordinarily more or less true. But he can be lured into taking jumpshots when better options are available.

Tayshaun moved much better laterally than AK47
Not much, especially not the Tayshaun post-handcheck ban. And yet Tayshaun still bothers him more than most defenders. It's mental; Tayshaun can't do a damn thing to keep Kobe from getting by him if he wants to.

Bryant isn't being shut down by KMart.
Well, he was. He couldn't get by Martin and he couldn't get separation on the perimeter. That just shouldn't happen given the athletic differences between the two of them.

He shot poorly in Game 1, but that's just 1 game. It's a 7 game series and Kobe will adjust to whoever is guarding him and attack accordingly. I guarantee you he will not end this series shooting 40%.
We'll see. Probably you're right; Denver is a horrible defensive team. Utah is bad, but they're much dirtier than the Thuggets pretend to be, better coached, and one hell of a lot better offensively. He has to be great for the Lakers to separate themselves from the Jazz.

George Karl has always employed some crazy, outside the box techniques. Martin on Kobe is one of them and it's just a gimmick. It wont work over 7 games.

I remember in the 96 Finals, Karl would start games with Detlef Schrempf guarding Michael Jordan.

Next 2 games in Utah? That's it. See you guys next year with a full complement. Yao Ming/T-Mac/Francis/Scola/Battier

We may be going down in flames but the Mav's are right there with us!! :lmao

utah sucks, they (fully manned) need the refs to bite on flops and count on other bad calls just to get by the injury-depleted rox.....pathetic.

Sad to say but I agree that the series is over. I'm not willing to get the Broom just yet, but without Yao we don't have much of a chance. Damn!!!! With Yao we would easily be up two games. If we stay healthy next year and bring in one more scorer I will say it now: WE WILL WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

i really wonder where all the lakers fan hate come from, is it really because of the Rafer beatdown during the 22 game winning streak? :lol

I feel really bad for Houston, and especially T-Mac. They played so hard and they just couldn't get it done at the end. And you can't expect T-Mac to play 48 minutes - he played his heart out, but he didn't have the help he needed.

This Houston team is just too riddled with injuries to fight against the strong, physical play of the Jazz. They beat up healthy teams!

It's just so sad that it's another 1st round exit for McGrady - he really is a talented player. He's just had the misfortune to be on teams that always seem to be hit with the injury bug. Yao going out really did spell the end of their playoff hopes - regardless of the 22-game winning streak.

But darn - I HATE Utah and I was hoping for a miracle in this series!

The 22 game streak was a miracle. This team has 3 starters quality players out. Francis/Alston/Yao

Without Alston, the Rockets sputter on offense. Sad to say but as Rafer goes so do the Rockets.

Here's to a new PG next year and a healthy Yao and Francis. :toast

Oh and by the way..

Because nobody wins in Utah in their house it's like game over. We'd need a true miracle to win the next two over there. My biggest consolation is watching the Hornets dismantle the Mavs and the Spurs tightly contested series with Shaq and the Suns with probably the Spurs moving up.

Could have used Francis in this series. He doesn't take crap from anyone. Plus even if he's not all the way back, he still doesn't back down and that's still 6 fouls to give.

Friggin Rockets. The rest of the team laid down and died.

T-Mac was the only one that showed up.

40 pts/ 12 rebounds/ 9 assist? on 50% fg while being doubled/tripled

What game was that? Because last night he only had 23 points.....and shot 9 for 22, and only scored 1 friggen point in the entire 4th quarter.

Was fun...and so much for Yao Ming's predictions.

Yao Ming: Utah Jazz. If we are to be matched up with teams with genuine big and traditional centres, we possibly will be at a disadvantage, because after all, I will not be around, and Uncle Mutombo could not sustain long play minutes and our other guys are too short. But if we are to be matched up with Utah Jazz, I feel with our new-found team work and initiatives in offense this year, we should be doing much better than what we did last year, just relying on me and Tracy in offense. Even though I will not be around, you see currently every of my team mates had all stepped up and playing with high self confidence; just take a look at them; they are so dissimilar with the team we had last season. Utah Jazz is very strong tactically and a well-disciplined team, and we are now a great read-and-react offensive team. We can beat them; after all now every of my team mates can play in offense. And I call this the Adelman’s victory.

I would like to see the Rockets get something and get back in the series. There only down 2 - 0, but they have to go to Utah and that's not going to be fun or easy. They can do it, they have the heart for sure. I'd like to see it!

"We're not coming back"

- Carlos Boozer to Houston fans as he walked off the court

I actually think game 3 will be the hardest for us to win in the series. When you get a BS call that hurts your chances of winning a game like the Rockets did, you come out pissed off and play your hearts out. I expect TMac to bring it all game long but in the end I think we pull out a hard fought win. With us going up 3-0, game 4 will be a blowout win.

True, but if you watched the game that is not what happened, only Kirlenko was checking him and he was hardly doubled in the 4th, but yet he still passed off.

He was tired.....Tmac needs to get in shape....
