Luis has failed to respond when it mattered. The greatest boondoggle trade in the history of the NBA? Perhaps RC knew something after all.

It is apparent that Scola can not make his own offense without a stud beside him, and he definitely is not any kind of irresistable force on defense. A nice player, but not worth his contract. For that money Houston could have done better.

P.S.

Yeah Scola choking in the playoffs isn't exactly shocking knowing his Euro history.

That offensive foul he picked up that robbed Houston of a late, game-tying three may finally end up being the beginning of their season's end.

Dropping one home game is bad enough, but dropping both is like a death sentence.

I still would've liked to see him on the Spurs...but this helps.

I'm happy with Kurt Thomas and Oberto.

Scola would have gotten abused by Shaq and Amare.

Still, would like Scola as another backup since Horrys not avail.

I want to give Scola some props for bringing his best game despite being a rookie and unexperienced in the NBA playoffs playing with the Rockets. This is his first yr in the NBA. First playoff experience and lured early into the responsibility too early for not having Yao alongside him to learn the game.

Mehmet's foul on him late in 4th was bad. I don't know if it was considered flagrant but that was bad.

If they lose this match, I'll feel sorry for TMac for not winning (again) a playoff series. He signed here for Yao and now he's alone carrying the team on his shoulders.

04-22-2008, 12:19 AM
What game did you see? He played well, in fact he was one of the reasons that the rockets stayed close in the 4th. You mean by that off foul? It was a flop by ak47.

Try to look at the game instead of the stats. the bad fg % is 'cause he's the only rocket fighting for offensive rebs and tapping the ball against five guys.
Look at the minutes he's played do you think that if he'd be playing so bad, Adelman'd give him so much playing time?

I don't know who is more of an idiot. The people here that obsess about Scola doing well on the Rockets, or the jackasses that obsess about him doing bad...

Truth is, this obsession can no longer be attributed to just the Scola nut huggers. No longer can you idiots use the excuse "I'm just tired of Scola homers bringing this shit up". Its become quite clear that the idiocy is shared now.

by the way, this thread is called a "premature ejaculation" thread. What if Scola does well in the next game of the series? The next chapter of this epic saga of stupidity will unfold, and most likely no one will eat the crow they so richly deserve.

hey don't get me wrong, I have a standing bet with that Argspursfan idiot that the Rockets won't make it past the second round. As it turns out, that bet looks like its going to be settled long before that time.

Still, this whole bashing Scola for no apparent reason is equally as idiotic as the people that keep following his every move as if he was still a Spur. :rolleyes

His individual defense in the playoffs (when it really matters) has been well below average. He is not some 22 year rookie out of college - he should have been a little better on D. The offensive foul was at the worst possible time and probably doomed his team's season (keep in mind a three pointer was shot and made tying the game).

Luis is a nice player, but the absense of Yao has really shown his best qualities (good scorer) and worst qualities (d league quality defender due to a lack of size and quickness). He will probably not improve tremendously as a defender. He is what he is.

That kind of defense would have had his butt on the bench in crunch time in SA (he would have helped us here no doubt but he wanted more minutes that SA would have provided).

"doomed his team's season"

Not doomed, hastened the inevitable end.

The Rockets never had a chance against the Jazz. Now they go to SLC to be swept. Not Scola's fault. I'm not sure Rafer and Yao would have made much difference.

Yes, Scola would be nice to have on the Spurs bench. But he's not. He is in Houston. And will most likely stay there.

I agree with McGrady assessment of the call saying it was horrible. This is the playoffs man. There were a million other more physical plays in that game that didn't get called, and to blow the whistle at that point was really cheap and totally screwed the rockets.
In my opinion it wasn't Scola's fault. He was out there playing hard like everyone else, and was just part of an unfortunate situation.

I've been very impressed by Scola in these 2 games. Is he Tim Duncan? Uh duh, no he's not. But this is his first NBA playoff series and he's been playing against one of the NBA's best interior teams without his center and I think he's doing pretty well.

I wish to fuck he was on the Spurs where he should be. Or do you prefer Horry's current game?

AK47 flopped like a little bitch on that call, but Scola was a dumbass for even sticking his arm out like that. The game would've been tied, and Houston would still have had a good chance to win it. That doesn't matter now...get out the broom...Jazz in 4.

The offensive foul call was really cheap and should not have been made, but you've got to know what the situation is. The game was about to be tied with the three pointer and Scola's arm swipe on AK47 nulified the play - that was too much for Houston to overcome.

The Rox have played with a lot of grit in trying circumstances. Maybe next year for them -they cannot win four out of five with three games in Utah. They do need Mutumbo back next year. He is really something at his age.

I'll say this too. Tracy McGrady is a heck of a player and does NOT whine and cry when things don't go his way.

The Rox fans on this board are so much better than the posters from Arizona (all the time) or North Texas (sometimes).
