View Full Version : Signature Limits

Kori Ellis
04-24-2008, 02:04 AM
So, people are insisting on making HUGE HUGE signatures that take up the whole screen.

Instead of limiting the size, we decided to add a feature where only a portion (400 pixels high) of the sig is shown. If you sig is taller than that, then there's a scroll bar on the side where people can scroll down to see the rest of it if they want to see it.

I'm not making this thread for complaints :lol I'm just telling you about it.

Thanks,

Kori

Reduce its size to 400 pixels high or don't worry about it. People can scroll down if they care to see it. It almost fits.

You just gotta wait for them to kinda load. Once they run through all the way, they stop blinking.

Pretty sure that's expected behavior, whether in IE, Firefox, or Safari.

Your scroll-wheel is going to scroll through whatever window the cursor is localized over, and now since it sees the sigs as separate windows within the browser, it will scroll all the way through that window before it continues to scroll through the main page.

The best way to avoid this is to keep your cursor on the sides of the screen while you scroll (such as over the Member Info column), so that they aren't passing over the signature areas.

In a way this could be great if you want longer sigs, now. You can make your 10 inch sig into a 3 foot sig w/o bothering anyone if they really want to see your extra long sig they have the option to use the scroll bar so maybe in a strange way this may back fire and many will try to out do each other with 4 foot sigs vs 5 foot sigs. :lmao

True & good advice. It's a system thing not something we can control.

hey, I know my signature is huge and blocky but I stay within the size limit without it starting to scroll within its own window frame.

Can you guys please get rid of the scolling signatures that exceed whatever size limit you have in place?

It's interferes when you are scrolling down. the mouse stops because it grabs on to someones scrolling signature.

i know this is minor but some signatures are like 2 pages long and that frame within the frame is quite annoying.

thanks

The scrolling doesn't happen automatically. It's because you are holding your mouse in the middle of the page. Just move your mouse to the side, and you can scroll down and it won't automatically scroll.

That's the point of having this function - so you don't have to scroll through the signatures.
