Tax Rebates To Arrive Earlier Than Expected

Those of you eagerly awaiting your tax rebate checks will rejoice at the Treasury Department's announcement that they're depositing the checks ahead of schedule. Their original announcement stated that May 2 would be rebate check opening day, but they've updated their schedule with the early start date of Monday, April 28.

If the IRS has your direct deposit information then your check will be deposited earlier than those who will receive their check in the mail. However, the mailed checks will also be sent a week ahead of schedule and mailings will begin on May 9. All rebates will be distributed according to the last two digits of your social security number as originally stated. While the IRS hasn't come out with a new schedule, I've updated their old one to reflect the newly announced dates. To see an updated estimated schedule just read more

I'm cashing mine and spending $150 of it on weed before I douse the rest in lighter fluid and burn it. Fuck stimulating the economy. When we're re-distributing federal monies to civilians and large lending corporations to keep capitalism afloat, it ceases to be capitalism. And it sure as hell isn't good socialism either. In fact I don't know what it is but some fucked up hybrid economic bullshit designed to protect the interests of the wealthy who saw the writing on the wall. Fuck that, I'm burning that cash and hoping the third world comes to America.

The IRS is making all deposits by May 2nd. If you had your tax return direct deposited into your bank account, expect the money before the end of the week.

False. Rather than rely on MSN, go to the IRS' site (http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html) which says:

False.

New York Times story dated today: "The Treasury Department plans to send electronic rebates to nearly 7.7 million people by the end of this week, said Andrew DeSouza, a spokesman for the department." (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/29/washington/29stimulus.html?ref=us)

7.7 million people does not represent everyone who filed electronically. The rebates ARE going out earlier than planned but only ppl with SSN's ending in 00-20 get them "NO LATER THAN" this week.

I usually give those guys false information.

When those Nigerians send me those letters telling me I've won a bunch of $$, I'll give them a false name, etc. And sometimes send them forms that are nonsense. I used to do it all the time, making up stationery, assuming different identities with these goons, until my wife told me to stop and get a hobby.

I post ads on craigslist occasionally and the nigerians write me to buy stuff, i always give them the name haywood jablowme and in a few days i get thousands in fake money orders. I have quite a collection, i called the fbi and they were not interested they said there are so many of them and catching them is next to impossible.

Haywood Jablowme. Great name! :lol

Yes, with these Nigerians it's probably too much to expect the FBI to protect us from them. The best way to combat them is to ignore them, or find ways to embarrass them, or waste their time.

I like to use the name Turd Ferguson.

ok quick question.
um have to give alittle background before I ask...

My dad claims me on his tax return, because I am a college student. However I also worked last year and filed my own tax return. Will I get my own check, and will my dad get money for claiming me as well? Or will I get only one of those checks?

Dex
05-07-2008, 10:19 AM
If you filed and got a tax return, you should get a stimulus check.

Your Dad, on the other hand. is going to jail for fraudulently claiming you on his taxes. Maybe the 600 will cover his bail.

Seriously though...

http://www.moneybluebook.com/breaking-down-the-details-of-the-2008-economic-stimulus-plan-and-your-tax-rebate-check/

4) Who Is Excluded From Receiving An Economic Stimulus Rebate Check?

If you are a single individual who earned more than $87,000, or if you are a married couple that earned over $174,000 for the year, you are likely excluded from receiving a rebate check, unless you can otherwise claim any extra child rebates. Keep in mind that the child rebates can also be phased depending on how much your adjusted gross income exceeds the income threshold.

If you’re a young college student who had earned income for 2007 but are claimed as a dependent under your parent’s tax return, you are ineligible for the tax rebate as well.

Under the Senate approved proposal, illegal immigrants will also not be eligible to receive tax rebate checks for obvious reasons.

Looks like I might have spoke too soon. :(

It'll be a great start. What ticks me off about the new w/d's is after you drop $1K+ on one of the new washers they expect you to drop another $200 on the matching pedastal. GMAFB, it's a piece of tin propped up to make a stand.

TaxCut (HRBlock), no delay.

Most e-File is done through third parties anyway.

HR Block newsletter online says that if you used TaxCut and had the fees deducted from your return instead of paying up front, you will receive a manual check, not direct deposit.

So it depends on how you paid for the service.
