Spurs fall for the oldest trick in sports.

Last used successfully by the Boston Red Sox on the New York Yankees.Let em win a couple of games to make them cockey and overconfident, then quietly win the next four games before they know what hit them.

That's the trick the Spurs used on PHX during the regular season. Now watch them win the next to make it 4 in a row.

Yeah, except the Spurs are NOT the Yankees. They don't get cocky or overconfident.

We practically did it against the Lakers in '06 without Amare. If there's a 1% chance we can still take this series, I'm a believer! Let's go Suns, let's overcome our personal demons and act like a championship team. :)

Like one of the local announcers said last night, it won't work because Amare can't hit a curve ball.

Incorrect. Another thread mentions that it's happened 3 times. Of course twice it was in the NHL (in the 40's and 75), so maybe they don't count...

The odds are not in any team's favor to beat the Spurs at home for any two games.

Unless somehow enough Phoenix fans show up to out cheer the good folks from San Antonio in SA, I see the defending world champions winning at least ONE of those two home games.

No offense, and I'm not trying to bust anyones butt over it, although I am sure someone else will beat me to it.

Exactly. With the Spurs up 3-1 and the Suns staring at yet another playoff failure/choke. Right where Phoenix always is at playoff time.

I'm in the camp that won't feel particularly secure until the Spurs win a 4th game. This group of Spurs has rarely failed, but when they have, they've failed pretty spectacularly.

Losing this one would definitely fit into that category.

I am not the least bit worried. The odds are so enormously against Phoenix rallying in this series that the only question I really have is how many points will the Spurs win by in game five?

It's not a choke if the Spurs are the superior team, as they clearly appear to be.

Those teams are 2-118 all-time in the series during the NBA playoffs.

The road team is 34-86 in Game 5 in those situations (2-12 in first round Game 5's).

I'm guessing that would stand to reason because the disparity is usually greater in first round match ups.
