I'll explain:

If you score, the points stay on the scoreboard, no matter what happens you can't take it back

If you give an assist, the points will also stay on the scoreboard, because obviously if you get an assist, your team gets a point.

If you rebound, theres a chance your team might convert it into points or there is a chance they might lose the ball in a turnover therefore making that rebound worthless.

Same with blocks and steals, you can Block the shot and steal the ball, but you don't always know if those blocks or steals will convert to points. If they do convert to points, then its a good block or steal, if they don't its almost as if it never happened.

What are you talking about or explaining?

This is commonsense.

What player are you trying to promote or bash with this?

Assists are overrated. Guys get credit for assists in situations where the pass did nothing to enable the score. Suppose a player passes out to the perimeter. The reciever pivots, takes a dribble, and hits a turnaround jumper. How did the passer create that shot? It's all on the shooter. The pass must be the hard part on an assisted field goal IMO.

As for blocks, good shot blocking tends to reduce opponent's FG%, so blocks work for me. Steals are fairly irrelevant.

Rebounds lead to possesions which lead to points.
