if you vote for half-season MVP who would that be? :rolleyes

CNNSi asked, and the result was:

Allen 5%
Duncan 14%
Lebron 23%
ShaQ 13%
Nash 35%
other 10%

note:KG was not on the list?

Shaq and Lebron should be considered. Nash and Allen don't play defense enough, and the MVP should not be someone who doesn't play defense.

Duncan is not playing like and MVp, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. His slightly reduced role (and it is slight - he's still averaging a double double seems to coincide with Parker coming into his own.

KG won't be considered if the Wolves don't make the playoffs, and right now they're not in the top 8.

Garnett's my pick. It's not his fault Spree, Hudson, and KandiAss haven't shown up to play while ET's age and injuries are doing him in.

How can you pick KG, dawg? His team isn't even in the playoffs. Give Tim Duncan me, you, Sequ and Steve Smith and we are in the playoffs.

Let's be real.

If it's true mVp, then I think Nash's absence and Phoenix's subsequent record should tell you all you need to know.

Nash is the MVP all the way at this stage...Phoenix is a lottery team without him...KG's team is a lottery team with him...and IMO this Spur team would make a strong run at a playoff seed even without Duncan.

If you are going by pure stats, a lot of bigmen are doing more than Nash, but in terms of having an impact on W-L and putting up huge numbers, Nash is the clear cut MVP IMO...for now, and Shaq is right behind him.

Damn, we must suck compared to last season then, when we went 5-3 without him, with 3 of those wins against playoff teams. And obviously we are worse this season...

Dude, without Duncan, we would have no front line.

It would be a dunkfest.

Dude, without Duncan, we would have no front line.

It would be a dunkfest.

Which would make us equivalent to about 70% of the teams that will make the playoffs this year...

Who does have a front line, outside of about 4 teams?

In addition to the way our team performed without Duncan last season...

Take a look at this season, Duncan hasn't exactly been tearing up the NBA over the past month, yet here we sit with the best record in the NBA...

Furthermore, Duncan is putting up near career lows in virtually every category, and playing fewer minutes than any other year of his career...

Yet here this team sits with the best record in the NBA.

These are not your Daddy's(or mine) Spurs...

The days of this team being 1 superstar surrounded by scrub journeymen are over....

This team has talent and it has depth and our record proves it.

So much depth in fact that, IMO, Duncan is pretty much disqualified from the MVP race this season...this team would need to win about 70 games for Duncan to be the MVP(and yes, the voters will vote based on winning PCT more than any other factor).

Nash > James > Dirk/Duncan

Who can honestly say
Duncan deserves MVP this year yet? That being said he could surge and deserve it and if Spurs lock down top seed with him getting back to old self make the arguement.

Dirk has to also be mentioned = scary good and where would Dallas be without him?

whottt

It's not about who is the best player...I wouldn't take Nash over Duncan under any circumstances, but Nash is the MVP going by historical trends

It's about who is most integral to their teams success out of the most successful teams...that may not be everyones' idea of how the MVP should be decided...but history shows that is exactly how it is decided.

The Elite team(we are talking one of the top 4 records in the NBA) that is the most reliant on 1 Superstar, gets their best player rewarded with the MVP trophy about 90% of the time....the more talented the team, the bigger the gap has to be between them and the next closest team, the more games they have to win, for their best player to get the MVP.

IE: Shaq had to win 67 games to get an MVP, when he was playing on a team with Kobe.

James....please....
Nash, then Kobe...
I love James, but he's the flavour of the week right now, in everyone's periphery. An amazing talent, but unless he averages a Triple double for the rest of the year, he's not going to make it. Just because he's 20 shouldn't matter either.

whottt

Medvedenko, that was a pretty decent take until...

Kobe?
Kobe?

GTF out of here homer...

Dude with the 6th best record in the conference is in second place for the MVP? Dream the fuck on.

Why should a guy get the MVP for taking his franchise into the toilet, and turning a once feared title contender into the bitch of the elite teams, all out of pure stupidity?

No MVP for Kobe. I don't hate the Lakers as much as I used to, but there is absolutely no case you can make for Kobe being the MVP, and you really come off looking like a homer by trying to say he is more worthy of the MVP than Shaq.

The only award Kobe should be in the running for this season is the dumbass punked his own self league bitch of the year award.

Admit how badly your team has fucked up, how Kobe championed the fucking up, and stop living in denial.

50 + 22 = 72 ???

64 + 18 = 82 !!!

I would go with Nash too if they're not going to let the Cavs play a whole season!

Sorry Med, but he is right. I respect you being a die hard fan, but Kobe messed things up for you. They should have done a sign and trade with Kobe and kept Shaq for the rest of his contract. They would be a better team for atleast a little while longer.

Yes it is his fault. He is suppose to be the leader in the team he is take charge on the court and off the court if he has no control of that team then they don't win games. Look at Tim He has control of the team and actually he doesn't even have to work hard with what he has on the rooster his team is in sync everyone listens and everone knows who is in control. Garnett is a good player don't get me wrong maybe a Hall of Famer in the future but this year he has no control of his team. MVP this year NO, unless they go undeafeted all the way to the ALL Star Game and make the 6th or 7th spot for the playoffs then you can considering him.

Obviously, Nash is important to the Suns success but if the roles were reversed amd Amare were injured, I still think the Suns are on a losing streak.

Nash-MVP
LeBron-Most Improved Player

IF Duncan gets injured and the Spurs lose 50% of it's games, that means something, I'll reconsider, I'd go TD.

Lebron, Nash, Dwayne Wade/Ray Allen tie.

That's what I think.

Now for Defensive player of the year, Andrei Kirilenko , if he keeps up his numbers when he recovers.

1. It wasn't a punctuation mistake. It wasn't even a typo. It was a spelling mistake.

2. I am pretty much planning to use that one against you for the next, say, ten years, give or take.
