I think those stats aren't including tonight's game.

Tony and Tim were awesome, but these were team wins.

Duncan was my first thought but TP has been just carrying the load as well. Manu needs to find his ass by Friday.

Parker first, no dout
Tim second, quite close
Manu did great on the first 3 games, but was regular on the 4th and sucked balls today. So far behind in 3th.

Tim Duncan. His 3 pointer makes sense now :)

I gotta go with Tim on this one.

He set the tone for the entire team in Game 1, as well as throughout the series.

His big trey ended up being an early back-breaker for the Suns, and could still go down as one of the greatest shots in Spurs history.

He was a defensive monster when necessary, helping to contain a highly potent Phoenix frontline and the explosive Stoudemire. And the 23.8 scoring average ain't shabby either.

Plus he faced down an old demon in Shaquile O'Neal on both sides of the court, and sent him packing early.

Parker was brilliant to be sure, but if you were giving out a game ball for this series, it should go to Tim.

I voted for Tony...but Tim was awesome too. Especially in the crucial series-determining Game 1...nobody but Tim showed up in the first half. He put the team on his shoulders and carried us to to that win.

Tim and Tony as CoMVPs. Honestly though, our role players need to get their heads out of their asses against NO. They're a better team than Pheonix so we can't just rely on Tim and Tony alone to get the wins like we did against Pheonix.

I think Tony is definitely the MVP of this series. However, TD did have a huge game with his 40 pts. But if we are talking about who is the most solid player throughout the 5 games in this series, then it's definitely Tony. So I vote for TP. (even though both TP/TD are really good in the series)

timvp
04-30-2008, 01:38 AM
TP, obviously. But series MVPs are lame, especially Finals MVPs. It's a team sport and each player has a role to play.

peskypesky
04-30-2008, 01:39 AM
Actually, now that I've thought about it and looked at the stats, I might have to change my vote to Tim. Considering the numbers he put up while battling Amare & Shaq, well, he's almost god-like.

T Park

Agreed on bogus.

Parker and Duncan equally shared the greatness, while this series wouldn't be over if it wasn't for Bowen's defense in the 4th quarter.

TP all the way, he’s been amazing, so did Duncan...Manu not so much, I love the guy, but he has to get his shit together, he is either hurt or he’s just off struggling at the wrong time...Spurs going to need the BIG 3 to play big like they did in game 1 and 2.

It is close between Tim and Tony.
I vote for Tony.
Tim was great but it wasn't a surprise.
I didn't know Tony could be that good on both end of the floor. He used the Suns inability to guard him perfectly and was the key player in the series.

I voted Parker, but could be Duncan as well.

Manu won the first game, was good 2nd and 3rd, but disappeared in 4th and 5th. His minutes went down too though.

But like people said, it was a team win.

People are being a bit hard on Ginobili. He was studly in the first three games. Game 4 he was good compared to how others played. In Game 5 he wasn't great offensively but he did good defensively and limited his turnovers, which had been plaguing him all series. Overall, Ginobili had a successful series. No doubt better than last year against the Suns.

It has to be Tim Duncan. He made the miracle 3. He dealt with both Amare and Shaq. He was the most consistent.

I did watch the games. Manu passed the ball to a wide open Tim Duncan, who was the third option (Finley was number 1) in that particular play.
If Tim was an option, I am pretty sure Pop made them train that play at least a couple of times.

I am not saying Manu was so much better than Tony/Tim, I am saying that current result of this poll (2 votes for Manu vs 99 for Tony) makes no sense unless we only have short term memory.

I don't think the fact that manu doesnt have a lot of votes is any knock on him this round, the truth is that parker and duncan, but especially parker, played lights out. Manu played well too, but i dont think he was the MVP of the series, just an important part of the winning combination

this is not a popularity poll. This is a poll of who was the best player in the series. This clearly was either Tim or Tony. Manu is far behind.

Why would anyone vote for Manu then??

Saying Manu didn't play as great as Tony or Duncan is not being hard on Manu imo... just being realistic.

He did a good job, 3 great games, an ok game and a bad one, but compared to Tony and Timy, he clearly was not that good in this series.

TP and TD were both great but this is a team effort. The little things that the Spurs do to win games are done by the team. Case in point - Bowen's play on Nash in games 3 & 5 were very instrumental in the Spurs series win. We probably lose last night if Nash is anywhere near his average.
