I've always noted Chandler as a good defender which got me thinking a little. Specifically on how Duncan has fared against him in the past. Duncan to be fair tends to get his measure on... well everyone... however that long athletic defender type has been known to give him trouble. Unfortunately Chandler has the long and athletic traits in spades to go with good defensive fundamentals and rebounding.

Anyway I looked up the comparision stats at basketball-reference.com here (http://www.basketball-reference.com/fc/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=duncati01&p2=chandty01) and the results are definately in our favour.

Since Chandler came into the league in 2002 Duncan has averaged 22/11/3/3 with the key factor being 55% fg shooting. Not to shabby. Additionally its been consistant through Chandlers bulls to hornets days so it's not like Duncan beat up on him as a rookie.

Anyway though it was worth noting, will be interesting to watch as the series plays out :toast

Tony Parker has consistently got the better of Paul so far in their match ups... having said that CP3 has reached a whole new level this season... as has Tony so far in the post season.

On to Chandler... he is a legit 7'1" in shoes... but despite looking long... he has very short arms for his height. His standing reach was 9'1.5" if i remember correctly... most 6'9"-6'10" guys have this sort of standing reach... and despite being taller than Tim... id say Tim has a slight reach advantage despite giving up two inches in height...

Not to mention Chandler is very lean... and has a narrow base so i dont think he will be able to hold Timmy from backing him down.

He is quick though so i can see Timmy using his back to the basket game a fair bit... and throwing in some face up of course..

Anyway this all probly matters squat cause Timmy will just dominate him anyway..

cause its the playoffs baby

Especially these because they're either wrong or old.

Parker:
season: 18.8 pts 6.0 ast 3.2 reb 0.8 st 2.38 to

You can expect a lot of fouls from Chandler in this series!!!

The Stats I gave are those of NOH/Spurs games where both CP and Tony played - I should have mentioned that

Pero... my numbers were from the head to head matchups between Chandler and Duncan when there teams met.

Not sure about ForeignFans numbers, but I assumed he got them from the same source. Paul's are probably more influenced by his rookie numbers though not to mention he sat a lot of time last season and I'm not sure how the DNP's are included/excluded.

mystar, I'm suprised to hear Chandler has a short wingspan he looks ridiculously long when I see him play! But yeah your right standing reach of 9'2 at his pre-draft camp... which is about average for his size... about the same as Bogut, Aldridge and DURANT!!!

Slightly worried over the fact that the Hornets blew out the Spurs not once, but twice this season by 20+ points.

Chandler is a good weak side defender not a post up defender so he might have his hands full with Duncan

I actually think David West will be defending Duncan at least as much as Tyson Chandler will be, maybe even more. I think Chandler will be better utilized as a weak side defender and rebounder.
