I hate the fact that Shawn Michaels never admits to being in on it. Fuck him for that. He had to have known that he was fucking Bret over and there was no way Vince was going to let the Hitman take his belt to WCW.

Shawn Michaels admitted to being 'in on it' back in 2002. It's mentioned in his autobiography and on his latest DVD. Basically, the conflict (over the title) was an issue between Bret Hart (the employee) and Vince McMahon (the employer). Whilst there was a history between Michaels and Hart, that wasn't part of the issue here.

McMahon decided to go with the 'screwjob' idea, but as it was his choice - as it's his company, and his world championship - he wanted to take full responsibility for it. Therefore, he told Michaels to deny any knowledge, and to instead blame McMahon. As Vince is his boss, he saw fit to do just that. But he has now owned up and apologised for his role in the events.

By the way, would YOU have let Bret take the belt over to WCW?!

On a side note, I'm surprised that there's not more Michaels fans on this board - he is from San Antonio after all. Local hero, and owns a Spurs season ticket! Anyone ever seen him there? Saw his photo taken with Tim Duncan last year at the AT&T, as TD21 was there for Raw.
