Mike Bivens told David Stern that in the 80's and 90's the faces of the league was Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan. Bivens asked Stern who he thinks the BIG Three of today's league is and he said, Kobe, Shaq, KG. Didn't mention TD

Duncan doesn't make the league the money that Kobe, Shaq, and KG do. As a Duncan fan I'm long used to it. It doesn't phase me anymore, Duncan's got the hardware. He'll go down as a top-ten ever player, nothing else matters.

I think he meant from a revenue standpoint. And you can not argue that.

could care less what stern says, he may not be the money-maker those guys are, but he gets the ultimate respect from peers and fans. TD could care less anyway

Didn't mention CP either, but give him time!

LeBron disappointed Stern last year when even he couldn't make money because he couldn't handle the Spurs.

As if there was any doubt who his BFF was after the decision to punish no one in Boston.

stern doesnt know jack about bball.... he's all about the dough and the dough only. shit the dudes 5ft something... i mean he probably wouldn't even be picked for a game at the Y back in his youth.

On importance you have to include TD, Kobe, and Shaq.

I don't even agree with him. To me, it's Nash, Kobe, and LeBron.

Garnett scores and rebounds at a higher rate than Timmy. That's why Stern rates him up there.

KG does not bring in more revenue than Tom Duncan.

Based on what? I didn't look stuff up but I would think KG's jersey sells better, I would think Boston's ticket sales and merchandising went through the roof this year. KG has commercials that actually air, that brings the league attention. Where is Duncan making more money than Garnett for the NBA?

Oh, it's Tim, not Tom. :lol

KG may be a little hotter right now that he just joined the Celtics, but over a several year period Tom, er Tim Duncan is a more famous player.

I believe the implication here is that you harbor a great yearning concerning acts of homosexuality and Peja Stojakavic, specifically, that you desire to fellate him.

I don't know if I agree that Duncan is more famous. He's got the hardware but KG has always had the personality. He's more accessible to fans. And I still think KG has made the league more money than Duncan.

I'm not sure that KG has any personality, but he's a bigger money maker for the league by far. That said, Kobe and LBJ are 1 and 1a in any discussion.

Well at the end of the day the NBA is here to make money. You can't argue that Shaq and KG,Kobe has made money for the league.

id disagree on the fact that duncan has played in 4 finals series and has gone deep in the playoffs almost his entire career... i'd imagine all the extra playoff games timmy has played and venue revenue he's generated by being a fucking pimp in the playoffs would exceed garnett's jersey sales and marketability... maybe that's just me though.

Peja On A Stick

Well we know why KG didn't get suspended. He wnats Kobe and KG in the playoffs. So he can suck off to the lakers vs Celtics. He just didn't want the hawks to beat the celtics again cause of no KG

I'd like to think Duncan generates more money but I don't see it. He's always deep in the Playoffs, he's won the Titles. But we keep being told how the ratings drop when the Spurs are in the Finals. If ratings drop then revenue drops. So he's there, but is he bringing in money? I certainly support him, jerseys, T shirts, sneakers, I buy only Duncan gear. But I still think Garnett has a wider audience.

If Shaq and KG are making more money for the league than Lebron is, then the NBA is being seriously mismanaged.

Even LeBron's 4 game cameo in the Finals was not even to make people watch the Finals. Of course seeing that the outcome was not in doubt had something to do with it.

It was also really terrible basketball, unless you love watching Bruce Bowen shut scorers down or appreciate defense in general. The Spurs had to sit for over a week waiting for Cleveland and never regained their tempo.

I don't think is that at all. If it had been Spurs/Pistons I think more viewers would have watch. That would have been a more competitve series. But no one in thier right mind had Cleveland going more then 5.

KG is far and away #1 in jersey sales for *this year*, but over the last ten years Duncan is actually higher.

Top 10 player!!! Are you fuccing insane!!! Hes barely top five in todays league. You guys give Duncan too much credit and not enough credit to his teammates.

Barely top five today?

according to what, individual stats ONLY?

Just because at 32 he is playing a more team oriented game than a few others and his individual stats arent through the roof, doesnt take away from his greatness as a player.

Tim Duncan could easily be a Top 10 all time player, and is the best PF in league history.

:lmao

Hate all you want, but it's not just Spurs fans that know it. If Duncan retired today he'd be a top-ten player of all-time. Never mind where he'll end up if he wins a couple more Titles. Look up his resume, the facts are there.

(He'll also be a first ballot Hall Of Famer.)

That is what I find ironic about the commish. He is always talking about players need to act right and be of good character. He has that in Duncan but in reality he goes with those who make him money. That's fine but at least own up to it.
