Doc Rivers totally should have won Coach of the Year. Why Byron Scott? Not only did Rivers' team win 42 games more than last season, but they had the best record in the NBA. Sure you can say "Well they had Allen and Garnett", but those are two guys that have never been to the Finals. They are good, but not great.

Even Phil Jackson had four guys who had been to the Finals before, in 2003-2004 (Shaq, Kobe, Malone, Payton) and his team only won 56 games.

Byron Scott didn't have the best record in the NBA or even the West.

Not only did Byron Scott deserve it, Rick Adelman, Jerry Sloan, and Eddie Jordan deserve it more than Doc Rivers. Rivers is horrible.

OK, well, if that's the rationale, then Scott had West and Paul (no playoff appearances prior to this year) and Tyson Chandler (12 playoff games). I'll see your Peja Stojakovic and raise you a Sam Cassell. I'll see your Bonzi Wells and I'll raise you...Bonzi Wells.

Maybe the Boston Big 3 are only good not great. But their leading players have a buttload more playoff experience than NO - yet the Hornets finished an eyelash away from the #1 seed in a tougher conference.

Rivers has a case, but the right guy won.

Byron Scott deserved it. Boston has a loaded team. So they overachieved a little bit. Hornets weren't expected to do anything. They overachieved a lot. Edge goes to B Scott

This post would have had so much more credibility before they lost two games in a row to Atlanta.

Because all Byron Scott has are young players (CP and West) Doc Rivers has 3 veteran stars (pierce KG and Ray)

Not to mention coaches a team in the weaker conference.

Boston was impressive, no doubt. But they had much higher expectations than New Orleans.

i guess im a bit biased cos B Scott is a Lakers guy but all the talk about Doc Rivers winning 42 more games than last year is a joke cos they were tanking big time last year, everyone knows it.

Byron Scott’s team is still playing…He was an excellent choice for C.O.Y…Rick Adelman deserved consideration as well…

Good point. I almost forgot about that little detail.

In addition to all of the excellent reasons given for Byron Scott this far, add "because New Jersey totally fucked him and some of the voters consider these things."

Rivers is a liability and will prove it the playoffs.he's proving it right now. and if the hawks go on to win game 6, that would be the last nail on that argument.

doc rivers is riding the boston flavor of the year, with 3 guys that cried their way out of their respective teams (garnett , allen , cassell) here's to a good job by scott, and hope the celtics lose game 7, they got cocky too fast and haven't proven a thing.

Ummmm

Even Isiah Thomas could lead the celtics to 60+ wins with an addition of garnett, allen, posey, cassell....etc

Rivers? WTF? An award for a coach that almost got fired last year. The only reason he is coaching is because Ainge had to give him a chance to see how far he can take this team. If Boston falls short of the Finals he will be joining Avery Johsnon in unemployement.
