I want to have a legit discussion as to why Parker goes into the tank. What is it about this dude? Dude destroyed Phoenix here in the SBC center. Dude destroyed the Lakers and then failed to show up. Claxton and Kerr bailed him out against Dallas and New Jersey. WTF? Whats up with this kid?

Tony Parker is not the right player for this offense. That is the bottom line. He needs to be in a fast break offense where he can utilize his speed and create plays on the run. Beno Udrih is a much better fit than Parker.
As much as I am a huge fan of Parker we should move him for an athletic big man and another back up point and move Udrih to starter.

Trade an all star point for a big man like that that doesnt exist, and use an untested euro rookie in the playoffs/?

Noway you move Parker, how about Pop laying off the screaming at him and let him develop.
Every in bounds play, Parker is looking over at the bench for the play call. Most other teams don't do that. But most teams aren't as good as the Spurs. I think he needs a little freedom to create and such.
As for my comments previously, I apologize, but not to MIB. He knows exactly what my point is and his posse can kiss my ass.

All-star? Did he make the team this year? All-star or not the guy does not fit our system in my opinion. If you dont think Udrih will average around 20 minutes/game in the playoffs then your watching a different game.
None of this really matter though because as long as Tim continues to drag his ass on offense and defense this team isnt going anywhere. Sick or not he is actually hurting this team right now. Hopefully over the All-Star break he can actually get well and come back full strength.
I think Pop tnaked this game so he doesnt have to coach the All-Star game :lol

I am disappointed that TP didn't kill Nash last night.
But it was Manu's night. TP just wasn't in the flow and if the offense isn't flowing through him, it's better to use Beno. Especially when Ginobili is on fire because Beno will defer to Manu.
Let us not overlook what Tony has accomplished the last month or so. He is still shooting over 49% from the field and dishing out 6 assists per game.
I expect Tony to put on a show in Sactown.

I do not understand where you are coming from texbumTHElife. Would you explain your position in more detail, please? Which offenses that the Spurs run do not fit Tony?
Some of the ones you may have noticed the Spurs running out of their monster playbook, for example:
Flex offense: Why or why not?
4-out-1-in motion: Why or why not?
High Screen/Roll: Why or why not?
Side Screen/Roll: Why or why not?
Zone offenses (take your pick): Why or why not?

Simply put, Tony Parker belongs in a fast breaking offense. He really shines in the rare games where we get out and run (first Suns game). I did clarify my statements towards the end of the game last night. I admitted to the fact I was grossly overracting because of how poorly he played last night. It is just an instance of when you know how good someone is/can be you demand more from them.
I will say however that we need to run the high screen/roll more along with more motion offense.

The Spurs are a very uptempo team this season but you obviously cannot run a fast break on every trip (after timeouts, made baskets and FTs). Other uptempo teams, like Phoenix for instance, don't run fast breaks all the time. They do rely on a lot of early offense, as does Seattle. (Early offense = early in the shot clock, 1st or 2nd option)
TP has proven that he can thrive in pushing the ball uptempo, or in bailing out the Spurs late in the shot clock, simply because he can create space and he finishes so well. Tony is a scorer who has learned to be a very good PG.
He'll have bad games or be under the weather, just like everyone else, but he's still a young guy and he's human...he's just gonna have some off games. Tony's been the best Spurs player for the last 7-8 games. Give Tony, and us, a break please.

If Tony had the flu, then everyone needs to shutup about his performance. Over the last few weeks, Duncan, Barry, Brown, and now apparently Tony have had the flu and it has wiped each of them out for a few weeks. It's amazing that the Spurs are 33-9 with so many of their players being under the weather for such periods.

The Suns were laying in wait for the P'n'R last night, so it wasn't effective. They were determined to not let Tony torch them again. Did anyone notice that on "the run" the Spurs were running little to none of their offense. They were just clearing out, and having Manu create from the top of the 3 point arc. Guess what? Tony can do that, too. He just didn't get the nod last night. Shit, he's been carrying the club for probably the last ten games.

"The Suns were laying in wait for the P'n'R last night, so it wasn't effective."
The Spurs didn't return the favor. It took way too many Suns points allowed before late in the game the Spurs figured out how to bother Nash. It's not as if the Spurs could have been surprised. I was disappointed the Spurs weren't handling it better for the first 3 quarters.

Agreed, but I'm not sure about that part where he didn't get "the nod". After a non-productive first half, you gotta find what works and not just rely on Pop.

Well, maybe that explains why he stopped trying to drive after the first few mins. of the game. It seemed to me that putting Johnson on him took him out of his game, and that seemed wierd since I know Tony is to quick and fast for just anyone to guard, and after awhile he just never attempted to drive or penetrate, so I can see him being sick. His performance was dissappointing to say the least and it came at a bad time but it is a team game and one person doesn't win it alone or lose it alone, the other guys stepped up and got the job done, which in my mind was a big lift to their confidence.

From now on anytime I am having a rough day at work I am chalking it up to "the Flu" ;)
I cant believe that the Spurs wouldnt provide Flu shots for the team before the season starts. I would think all franchises would be doing that by now. Personally if I was in the Spurs staff and one of the bigger names (Duncan, Parker, Gino) got the flu they would not be seeing any game time. The amount of fatigue that can cause can linger for the entire season.

Hey dude. All I did was ask where someone had heard that Parker had the flu and suddenly I was the one taking all the heat for this thread that I didn't even start.
P.S. Don't worry. I have every intention of reminding the folks in this forum of Parker's disappearing acts when the playoffs come around. Doesn't matter though. Guys like (ma boy) Manu, Beno, and Barry will bail him out but Parker will still get all the credit around here. :rolleyes
Oh my.
One bad (ok horrible) game in, what, 6 weeks and TP is to be traded... Come on, some of you (certainly no Spurs fan) deserve this trade, just to see what you'll then miss so badly.
Flu or not, TP deserve (and earned) more respect than some of you (very vocals) show him... Really strange attitude toward this young french guy.
For the poster who mentionned his contract, TP is still in his rookie contract... And give us a break with Beno, he'll need to prove much more before he can claim the starting job... What was Pop's reaction about trading Parker and having Beno running the point: laugh. And guess what ?Pop knows more than you and I, way more...
And just to sum up I loved this previous reaction: "His back is sore from carrying this team for the last few weeks."
Cheers and expecting a good win against the kings
