No split ... Lakers win both of these then Game 4 is the BIG game ...i expect Jazz to win Game 3 easily at home and then Game 4 to be tightly contested whoever wins that game has a great chance to win the series ...
But right now i am saying Lakers in 5 ...:lol:lol

Jazz are going home 0-2, they are not even a close matchup for the Laker Juggernaut.

Down by 17, this has the potential to get even uglier. A sweep is possible but more likely 5 games max.

The Jazz are an incredibly dirty and physical team. Their philosophy is that the refs can't call every foul, so we'll just foul on every play. Lakers need to come ready to play on Wed. with the mindset that UTAH is going to foul them and push them around. The Lakers need to push back.

MajicMan

Rebuilding. Whats funny is we still make the playoffs while rebuilding...ahem...55 fucking times out of 60 goddam years:downspin:

Bynum getting injured was a blessing. The Kobe to Gasol to Odom passing is where it's evident.
I don't think Kobe will ever shake his glory-hog tendencies (he almost pissed the game away going one on one) but he listens to Phil and trusts his teammates now, so I don't really see why you guys can't go all the way with Kobe + Gasol. Maybe you guys just suck on defense still, but I don't see how teams outside of Detroit, Boston, and SA can defend your guys.

ManuTim_best of Fwiendz

Can anyone stop the Lakers in the West??? :wow

To be honest, nobody in the West can stop the Lakers. It's not cockiness, it's just the matchups. By grabbing the #1 seed, the Lakers made the table for themselves.

It just so happens that turned into good luck avoiding all the veteran teams....Mavs, Spurs, Suns until the last round...plus HCA.

Spurs would have played the Lakers well, but not in these late rounds after going thru the Suns and Hornets. If they beat the Hornets, it's going to go 6-7 games because of HCA.

Hornets are young and won't be affected by a long series but lack of experience and they have Utah's problem...nobody to guard Kobe.

ManuTim_best of Fwiendz
05-04-2008, 05:56 PM
If we make it past the Hornets not too beat up, the best we could hope for, is for the Lakers to be pushed to 6 games by Utah.

I agree,
Lakers played the regular season advantage well, they didn't drop too many games during their harder part of the schedule, which came pretty early as opposed to the other teams and locked up the # 1 seed.

Good win for the home team. To be honest, I was worried about this game because of the long layoff. It takes time to get into the game shape. I really thought the Jazz might steal game one (ala Phil in 2001). Say what you will about them just getting out of one series but they were primed to continue whereas the lakers were not. We have to work on our rebounding, which we all knew was a big advantage for the jazz but I'm sure Phil will make adjustments. That may have taken away the 1 game I was willing to give Utah, now it may be a sweep (wishful thinking...:hat)

God...where do I begin? The good news is that our 2 best players played like shit and we were right there at the end. We had several chances but missed WIDE FUCKING OPEN shot after shot in the 4th. Somebody needs to take Harpring out back and put him out of his misery. The guy is a fucking joke. Boozer is pathetic. I was cheering when he picked up his 6th foul. I knew that was going to be the only way for him to get his fat ass off the court.

Deron played like shit, Brewer needs to stop shooting jumpers, AK and Okur were the only 2 that showed up. Funny that Deron called them out last year for going on vacation early and they were the only 2 playing hard. Deron needs someone to piss him off. He didn't have that killer instinct. He always plays better when he has a chip on his shoulder. We need Kobe to ask the media how to pronounce Deron's first name.

I'm happy we fought back and honestly that game was ours to win but we just couldn't hit a damn shot in the 4th. It makes is more frustrating though. I still feel pretty good about our chances in the series.

Uhhh..no it wasn't. It wasn't a close as you think. Lakers let up and you guys caught back up. Most teams let up with a big lead. I don't care how we win as long as we win. We didn't stomp you guys but there are no moral victories here. That game was not yours for the taking. I don't know what game you were watching. That was our game to lose. Anyhow, if we can manage to win the next one you guys are done. We can win in Utah and have so this season.

It was not that close, the Lakers got up by 19 and then relaxed. They've been doing that all year. Then when it starts getting tight, the Lakers clamp down again and the end result isn't even close at the end.

We had several chances but missed WIDE FUCKING OPEN shot after shot in the 4th. Somebody needs to take Harpring out back and put him out of his misery. The guy is a fucking joke.

Boozer wasn't that bad except for his 7 turnovers. Most of them weren't even forced turnovers.

I don't think that game was close, the Lakers just didn't get it closed out. You won't win many games this year when MVP scores 38. You won't win many games going down by 19..it's possible but very unlikely.

No disrespect to the Jazz, I like DWill and Sloan but they're just way overmatched with no MVP stopper (ala Spurs, Suns)

lol...yeah, we had no shot at winning the game when we were within 4 and had the ball right? You can thank our pathetic 4th quarter shooting for the loss. LA isn't anything special. They beat up on a joke of a first round opponent. People need to stop thinking this team is immortal. We're not shooting 39% for the series, our star player won't play another game like he did today, our bench will play better, and Boozer will eventually get his head out of his ass (well, maybe not that one).

And you can take those 20 brooms and shove them right up your ass because there's no way in hell LA is sweeping this series. We played our second worst game of the playoffs and had a chance in the 4th. You guys can spin it all you want but when a team is within 4 points in the 4th, they have a chance at winning the game. You're exactly right. Losing game 3 to Houston was a big loss in more ways than one.

Can you guys honestly sit here and tell me that our pathetic 4th quarter shooting was the result of LA's defense? Give me a break. If LA's defense was the reason for our brick laying contest in the 4th, I'd be the first to say so. It wasn't so you need to look for another reason why and the only other explination is a tired team. I don't give a shit about using that as an excuse because it's the truth. ..... NOTHING the Lakers did in the 4th prevented us from making our shots.

The Lakers kept the Jazz from easy shots on the inside.

That's the problem with the Jazz, Boozer gets stupid fouls and he's the only inside player for the Jazz. So since he's afraid of getting more fouls, he stands and takes jumpshots instead of banging in the middle.

If the Jazz try to beat the Lakers with fade-aways and jumpshots, the Lakers will beat them everytime. If you watch the Lakers in the end, they didn't shoot jumpshots in the last 4-5 minutes, everything was at the basket.

You close out games by points in the paint, not outside jumpers...that is why Utah doesn't have a chance even if their outside shots are falling more.

armand0
05-04-2008, 08:54 PM
you'll also understand that it has nothing to do with lakers, its up to us just as in the rockets(dont underestimate rockets they played great defence) series (we could easily sweep them but didnt need to try hard and lost 3rd game), the panic in the end and at 2nd quater made us lose the game, we can overcome that, we did before, i didnt see anything special with lakers it was just kobe(ok he is special) and our TO's, ofc. they'd play a couple of pick and rolls. If this series ends before game 7 it'll be in favor of jazz (i cant say anything about game 7). We'r not Nuggets, dont even think about an easy advance, we'r ready to a long and tough series, r u?

Given the fact that we were playing pretty much a back-to-back in the playoffs and still were right there, .

Wow, you're pretty dumb. Friday ----> Sunday is not a back to back retard.

I wouldn't be surprised if Utah actually wins these series. They showed they can play LA mano a mano. They choked massively in the last 3 minutes. That was Williams' time and he fucked it up. LA is going to have problems playing on the road against this team. The big problem is Okur here who is actually playing smarter than last season. Gasol got totally outplayed by him.

Unfortunately the thing I most remember from this game is PJ complaining about calls. Regardless of what he has won, he will go down in history as a classless coach, resorting to calling out refs for his team fucking up. It's like he's expecting no calls against his team. Pathetic. And if you are going to challege this please make sure you get your facts straight before you do cause you are going to get owned.

If SAS wanted an easy route, they should have played harder in the regular season.

LOL you can't be serious? Give us Pau Gasol for loose change and see where we would have ended up. You certainly wouldn't have been the number 1 seed with out that trade.

Of course I can tell there is a bit of wishing in the above post ...of course Utah CAN win but the odds are against it ...they suck on the road, Boozer has struggled down the stretch and the Lakers won in Utah without Bynum or Gasol ...i expect a good series maybe even 7 but I also could see us winning in 5 especally if Utah doesnt win Game 2 because we will win one in Utah ...count it. As far as whining goes hell yeah Phil does but so does Pop and so does Tim especially he did it ALL last game as he bricked shot after shot ...I respect the hellout of Tim but him and Kobe are 2 of the biggest complainers so by extension Phil & Pop have 2 as well to defend their stars!

I guess you forget that 30 secs before the interview, Walton did a football pass to Lamar and Lamar got his hand chopped off with no foul call. Im sure that was the reason PJ mentioned the refs.

Oh I didn't forget that and that's why he was calling out the refs - calls didn't go his way and he was upset.. how can those calls not being called to our side????? how's that possible??? we are the lakers!!!!

Also for that one who said there was some wishing on my side, yes indeed there is, I need to keep the balance and counter the lakers homerism in this forum, it's ridiculous.

Seriously. Talking about real stuff both teams lakers and utah can win the series, I can see LA winning in 5 but I can see Utah winning in 6 as well.

These guys aren't the Denver Nuggets.

Whatever makes you sleep at night buddy. You can find any reason you want to THINK that Utah can beat the Lakers...but you might want to concentrate on your Spurs finding ways to beat the Hornets first.

Jazz arent winning this series unless the Lakers stop playing. Utah is overrated. They have a nice little team but they will be fortunate to win 2 games in this series. They play physical and all but they are still a pathetic defensive team. AK47 is the best guy at """guarding""" kobe and even he cant do it at all because his method of D is trying to block from behind especially when he is beaten off the dribble. Kobe will get anything he wants on utahs soft ass d. That will force Utah to pack the lane leaving our shooters wide open or Gasol/Odom under the basket for an easy dunk or layup. Lakers also are a smarter team than Utah is. Phil>>>>Sloan as well.

Class? Constantly using bush league shit like Hack a Shaq to win a game because you know your team isn't good enough to win through conventional means is really classy. Allow Bowen to be the dirtiest player in the league for years? Class. Watching Manu flop like a fish for 82 games a season? Class. Best of all, blatantly tank games and then take over the team once you drafted Tim Duncan. All class, Mr. Popabitch.

Regardless, 10 rings (yes I counted this season) > 4 rings. Phil > Pop. Phil > Sloan. Phil > Red. Show some fucking respect for the greatest basketball coach that ever lived.

As a coach Phil only has 9. One as a player hes got a ring as well, but the guys are talking about rings as a coach only i believe

SpurOutofTownFan

Coaches are classless now if they are upset (in the middle of the game) with a bad call? :lol GTFO with that crap, you just hating

Pop was complaining to reporters earlier in the season about how the Gasol trade shouldnt be allowed by the NBA, isnt that alot worse than mentioning a bad call?

Pop has complained about officiating to the press, maybe not as tactful as Phil or as often but Phil is just posturing . He criticizes his own players in the press as well. Gregg Popovich does worst, he calls the league! He tries to get players suspended. He calls the league to watch Shaq on the freethrow line. I'm surprise that a Spurs fan would say that Phil will go down in history as a classless coach after they just beat a team with Hack a shaq. ???? Pop talked to every reporter that would listen about the Gasol trade.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/9375-Gregg-Popovich-Hypocrite--130208

He files protests of games (.04) show me where Phil ever did any of the above or asked the league to look at certain players.

They're both great coaches with their own ways of doing things. Phil is no doubt the best in the business. 9 > 4
