A friend of mine who post there told this weekend that there are heavy rumors that Dusty sold the site, and the last week problems were related to that.

Anyone knows something about it?

funny how most of the people thinks that SR sucks, but post in the thread. If SR sucks it should be a non issue. But everytime there are problems there, there is a thread here and people post in it.

I am not into Freudian stuff, but I am just saying.

If they paid more than the going domain registration fee, they got ripped off. Who wants a forum with nothing but 'bots logged in 24/7?

My other thought was that this is a scam, and that Modesto thinks that if people think he's gone, they may go back.

I heard that he sold too. But I've heard on and off for a few years that he was selling and it never happened. It's definitely weird that they switched domain registrars last week when their domain wasn't up for renewal yet.

Good luck to them. I hope he made some money.

SpursReport was sold to ClearChannel a few months back.

Since then only moderators are allowed to signatures, the pm feature has been disabled and two moderators have been fired.

MomBear who was relieved of moderator duties back in February works for clear channel and appears to now have far more control over the web site.

There has been a mass banning of sorts. Many posters, especially ones who were in disfavor with MomBear, have been given a "Miserable User" designation, which means it does not say you are banned on SR, but you can no longer log into SR. Many posters that were deemd "Miserable Users" never broke any SR rules bt were just disliked by MomBear.

I'm not a fan of SR, but I don't wish them any harm. I don't like the stuff that Kori went through, but it's a live and let live kind of thing. It ended up working out, Kori created ST.

I'm glad we have a choice, I'm glad ST exists. I'd hate for SR to be the only Spurs site around.

Clear Channel may not be the direct owner (parent comapny) but a company affliated with Clear Channel (Subsidiary, brother-sister company) is the owner of SR, which explains the reciprocal advertising that goes on between the two.

I'm not sure who told you that. But some people at Clear Channel say it's just an advertising deal - no ownership at all. Mom Bear works in their Sales Dept and they hooked up an ad deal.

I could be wrong, but they don't have much reason to lie about it. As far as I was told, Dusty still owns SR and they just went back to having a relationship with ClearChannel - as they did in the past. Their site is on a low budget server company - I really doubt that would be the case if they were owned by CC... it would just be on the CC servers.

I don't care much, but I'm just saying that a lot of misinformation has been being told about their site in the last few months.

Oh and I just want to say one more thing on this topic... If Ladyspur and DizzG got fired as mods (I doubt they did, but maybe), then I really feel bad for them. Though they get made fun of here from time to time, I know that they were very dedicated and really loved SR. So, I hope that they actually kept them around.

And where is Jesse these days? I know some of those lame topics being posted under "Amente" can't be his.

What I heard happened was Dusty is Mombear. Clearchannel created him/her to go into the internets and turn everything they see into clearchannel property. They monitor all things that are being said about them and if it is against CC beliefs a huge bear will jump out of your screen and pull you in. In fact CC already got ahold of some people and that is why this thread is here. It’s free ad space. The way I understand it is if you look into a mirror and say Dusty is MomBear three times and then look into your computer that little girl from poltergeist comes out and gets you. Again there are two ways to get sucked in so please avoid… them… hello? Who’s there! WAIT WHO ARE YOU! NNNNOOOO

1 million posts ago at SR was April 24, 2005.

So, it took us 14 months for a million posts and it took them 3 years and 3 months

I guess all their "reply in 2 words" threads aren't really adding up to much.

I do know this. Years ago I was banned. Then during this past season from out of the blue, I got an e-mail telling me that my request to be reinstated had been granted. :lol

So I would log in occasionally but never to post-- only to PM some people I know there. I refused to post anything that would add to the content of their site after what happened, but I used it to keep in touch with a few people. Now the PM function is gone, so it is useless to me.

Not a very accurate chart. Alexa just counts people who have an Alexa toolbar, pretty much. But, yeah ST has been getting 3-4 times the traffic of SR for a few years.
