Yup the Hawks selected him for the Spurs a few years back. I can't remember what they traded for him. I think it was a 2nd rounder the next year.

Since the Spurs are in need of young, long SF's--- what are the chances this guy makes the team next year?

He showed flashes of what he might become in the summer league--but he's been troubled with a LOT of injuries ever since we drafted him. So he hasn't developed overseas like the FO hoped. Hasn't got enough minutes on his various teams, etc.

He was 18 when the Spurs traded for his rights in 2004.

I am not sure but PAO owner was report as consider sign him. He is injured and instead he sign Stratos Perperoglou and Kennedy Winston. Winston is not bad player. He is very athletic player and is big wing player for SG or SF. He can dribble, make pass and also good 3 point shooter. Very good dunker. This is decent young player for Euroleague.

Perperoglou is very talent player. He is slow develop player and is behind schedules of what Greece basketball program want but he also have army issue and maybe this why. But he is very talent young SF and is one of most talent Greek player and is also decent young player for Euroleague. And some rumors was Sanikidze is considers to be sign before these other players. But he have injury so he not get contract offer. PAO is very big team in Europe so possible thing if this player were not injure he would be consider by big club of Europe.

Georgia is not bad in basketball for players they has some decent players for as like some smaller domestic league levels of Europe. So have such performance of all stars at this age mean he must be player that is capable of play in top Euroleague team if stay healthy. I thinks this should be anyway.

My guess is that Sanikidze ends up as the Spurs' 15th man and spends next season in Austin.
