View Full Version : So turns out its not only Spur fans who think Paul is a jerk

I was talking to a friend who is not a spur fan, he was actually rooting for phoenix and without me bringing it up, brought up the fact that Paul acts like an arrogant little bitch. I thought it was our Spurs blinders who made us think that. The surprising thing is 2 other ppl in the table that are Celtic fans completely agreed. all 3 of them dislike him.

they also told me one thing I missed. during game 1 or 2, after Duncan shot a FT, Paul walked all the way in front of DUncan when he tried to get the ball back for his 2nd FT. Duncan got so pissed he grabbed the ball and used it to push Paul out of the way.

why this guy gotta act like a little prick?

good to know the "dislike" for Paul is legitimate in this forum...

I saw that too, and I couldn't help but wonder how he could be so disrespectful of Tim Duncan!! He should be honored to even be on the same court; none of the other young guys ever treat Tim that way.

oh yeah? well i have a friend that's not a hornets fan and he loves chris paul and thinks the entire SA team is a bunch of crybabies. Honestly, how retarded is your argument? "i have a friend so it must be true".

And heaven forbid he doesn't get down on his knees a beg the almighty tim duncan and his amazing stat line this series (13pts/gm, 8reb/gm) to allow him on the same court! The nerve! Honestly, what does tim duncan have to do to get some respect? hmm, maybe not be mediocre against physical competition?

Whatever. But you don't think it's a little ridiculous so get so defensive when the facts are:
1) Tim Duncan has 4 rings, 3 Finals MVPs, 2 NBA MVPs, 10 AllStar teams,11 All NBA teams,10 All Defensive teams (and I'm sure I've missed some); has with stood the test of time, has already earned his place in basketball history as one of the greatest players of all time
2) Chris Paul, an amazing talent, has earned ROY/NBA All Rookie Team, 1 All Star team, 1 NBA 1st team; will probably have a superb future/career(has yet to be seen)

Now what part of "respect" do you not get? Probably the same part CP doesn't get.

No. I think he's so good because he has an amazing talent and is a great athlete. But in pro sports those are a dime a dozen. The truly great players are separated from the rest by their spirit and attitude.

I can see being that way, maybe the first time CP played the spurs THREE YEARS AGO. But its a division rival. Been there, done that 15 times. The shine has worn off and now they're competitors. CP was probably just trying to frustrate TD and it seemed to have worked. Everyone tries to do it to the other team's star in their own way. CP isn't big enough to hold him or bang him around down low (that's what she said), so he does it his own way.

It's pretty close. Paul just seems worse because he is arrogant.

If the Spurs win this series they won't let the calls get to them. Part of the reason why the Pistons have lost the last few years is because the frustration of LBJ and Wade getting a lot of calls overcame their resiliency.

Being that i did not notice this incident, no I cannot confirm or deny acceptable/innapropriate behavior. But has bowen's cheap shots been acceptable just b/c they are during play?

Really, HE WALKED IN FRONT OF HIM AFTER A FREE THROW! Could he possibly have been going to talk to his teamates and upon turning around, accidently be right in front of Duncan? You are all acting like he walked in the lane, and stood there and was denying him the ball. I'm pretty sure the refs would have had something to say at that point.

I have no problem with the guy being confident and standing up for himself. I'm glad the guy realizes he's a good basketball player.

That doesn't give him a ticket to act like a jackass and not treat other players with respect. Especially players who have been around ten times longer and accomplished ten times more than he has.

Regardless of how much you like Paul or not, he's not a fucking superstar because he got past one First Round series. And he needs to quit acting like it.

This is one of the biggest reasons I can't wait for the Spurs to shove this series right back in his face and down his throat.

I guess you can say all NO Hornets fans are bandwaggoners by the definition. I mean, they had a team that left them for two years, took the new orleans name off the jerseys and came back to play a handful of meaningless games at a college arena 90 miles away. But now all of a sudden they're back in New Orleans, so the actual New Orleans fans start cheering for them after a 2 year absence. So yeah, by definition, I guess we're all bandwaggoners, but its a bandwaggon unlike your typical bandwagons.

I'm assuming that you are referring to the Ray Allen situation. Sounds like you disaggreed with what he did but still love him on our team. I aggreed with what he did but thought he should have gone farther. What I saw on youtube was classless by Allen. If it was me I would have kicked that SOB in the head and knocked the living crap out of him! Jumpimg sideways on a J into Bowen's throat with his elbow warrents him being FUBARed. Ray Allen was being himself - a punk to Bowen since Bruce usually gets under his skin and messes up his game.

The only thing that made CP3 tolarable to me was when the trash talking Rafer Alston got a rise out of him.

This showed to me what an ass CP3 is airing this smack to the press.

Alston
"We beat New Orleans and people say they were without David West," Alston said. "Well David West isn't a superstar. He may be a star to their team, but he's not a superstar like Yao Ming."

CP3
"Tracy McGrady is a great player. If I was Rafer Alston, I'd probably ride his coattails too." "He had a tough time out there trying to stay in front of me, and that was the plan." "When you got somebody like Rafer Alston, who thinks they're a lot better than they really are, you gotta test them."
