He was talking about visiting the lower 48 contiguous states, of which he was trying to say that he had gotten to 47 out of 48 of them.

Sorry about the misspelling. I have a bad habit of reading the BBC news website.

"armour" as opposed to "armor", and all sorts of things like that mess with ya.

I speak pretty good german, and modern german pronounces the "ie" and "ei" dipthongs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diphthong) completely opposite of modern english, and THAT gives me a world of hurt when it comes to words like "receipt" and so forth.

Hey gotta respect the fact you didn't comeback from my sarcasm. But
don't make excuses for the fact that there are 50 states. And he makes
some lame statement about 57. It has to make you wonder.
