SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Spurs today announced that center Rasho Nesterovic has been placed on the injured list due to a left ankle sprain. Nesterovic is averaging 5.4 points and 6.7 rebounds in 25.4 minutes in 42 games.

I hope he plays well.

Do you guys think he will be confident, or do you think he will be nervous because he doesn't want to lose his playing privileges that he just received?

Nesterovic has the worst job in the NBA...Replacing David Robinson at center for the San Antonio Spurs...

When athletes receive the status of "Sainthood" it is impossible for their replacements to ever satisfy the hometown fans...

I don’t see Robert Horry or Malik Rose getting bashed for not stepping up their game... :smokin

I don't know about Sean, but BOUTONS is nervous as hell for him. :)

Warm up, loosen up with the non-shooting stuff, aggressive defense and crashing the boards like a Rodman. Give em hell, Kiwi.

Center by committee:
Marks, Massenburg, Horry (if available), and Malik.

If Pop wants to go with the guy he is most comfortable with Horry will start (if ready) but if Pop wants the player that fills the exact position Marks is the biggest guy they have.....

I disagree. When big men have been injured in the past, Pop has opted to start Rose and bring Horry off the bench.

Either way, I hope that Marks gets some court time. I like his game, and I think he can contribute.

It'll be interesting to see how much Marks plays. I can see him starting ... but I could also see him being the 12th man. Hopefully when Pop calls his number, he'll go out there and produce. The coaching staff and Tim Duncan were high on him in training camp, so hopefully that translates to the real games.

Give 'em hell, Marks.

Marks 2.10 meters

(210 cm) / (2.54 cm/inch) = 6'9"

Haha Boutons, I bet your from Europe. Anyways, it good that marks is as tall as Duncan, so he can actually play center.

Don't they list Marks as a seven-footer now?

I'm glad they activated him but I honestly don't see him getting any time except maybe garbage time. If Horry is still a no-go then maybe he'll get minutes behind Rose and TMass.

In the beginning of the season, they had changed his height to 7 feet when they changed Duncan to 6'11. They also up'd Rasho's weight to 280. But according to Spurs.com, Marks and Rasho are normal size again. :)

I dont care what anyone says, whenever Rose, Horry, or Mass is on the floor Duncan is the "Center."

I had earlier looked up SM's height on TallBlacks site, where he's listed as 2.10 m.

I haven't seen much of him, I expect effort, and hustle....there's alot of people in the bench that want to prove themselves and I believe he's one.

I really hope he steps it up against whoever he matches up with.

Is he starting?

usckk
01-23-2005, 03:29 PM
No. Coach Pop normally doesn't let new comers play any significant minutes the first game. So starting is out of the question.

Sean has been on Spurs injured reserve, and in every damn Spurs practice for 2 years. That disqualifies him as a newcomer.

He might be a beachcomber, or early cummer, but he ain't a newcomer.

I know Rasho can be "soft" and frustrate the hell out of Spurs fans but he is going to be missed on the defensive end quite a bit. Rasho does an excellent job of helping out on the defensive side of the ball and he is a presence that is underrated. Another area he does no get enough credit for is his ability to screen and move into spots on the floor to box out and rebound. Even when Rasho does not come up with the rebound he is in the mix and it enables Tim to move into better position. Rasho is going to be missed!

Will Duncan start at center? Or someone else because Rose/Horry are good sized PF's.

Or someone else because Rose/Horry are good sized PF's.

Rose and Horry are not good sized power forward. Horry doesn't have the muscle/bulk to really be a C. And rose even though he has played it in the past is to damn short at 6'7 if he's lucky.

While you will probably see them at C during his stretch it is far from ideal.

Dre_7

Rose is probably more like 6'5"
