There's just something about installing a computer generated character into a "real" world that I find really hard to watch for more than a few seconds at a time.

I agree 100%, though I was never really sold on Bana. He did OK, but he just seemed a little too hunky, leading mannish to play Banner. But yes, the pacing was godawful. They just tried to do too much with it. There's a lot of great underlying themes to the character of Banner/Hulk, and it seemed like they wanted to stuff all of them into the film. Pick one and go with it. The Hulk can be a tragic Frankenstein monster. He can be a metaphor for the inner demons that trauma can create in children. He can be a metaphor for all sorts of statements on the military industrial complex. He's been all of those things in the comics. But you try to make him all of those things in one movie and you end up with a muddled three hour Freudian study about sons and fathers. The fact that they are approaching this new one with the idea of it being a series is something that gives me hope that they can still show the depth and power of the character without boring the fuck out of people.
