Fort Wayne, IN (May 15, 2008) - Fort Wayne Mad Ants’ President Jeff Potter announced today that Jaren Jackson will be the head coach for the 2008-09 season.

“This was a no brainer for us,” Potter said. “We knew early on that Jaren was the future of the Mad Ants. Jaren has shown an incredible ability to relate to the players and communicate his philosophies. His intelligence and preparation are unsurpassed.” Jackson started the 2007-08 season as the Mad Ants’ Assistant Coach under former Head Coach Kent Davison. Half-way through the season, on February 4th, 2008, Coach Davison took a position to coach the Qatar National Team and the Mad Ants chose Jackson to take over the reins for the remaining 25 games.

For such a short coaching career, Jackson has an impressive resume. He coached two years in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA), last season for the Pittsburg Xplosion and the Gary Steelheads in the 2005-06 season. Jackson was named 2006 CBA Coach of the Year and led the team to the CBA Finals championship series in just his first season with the team. Prior to joining the CBA, Jackson coached the Philadelphia Fusion of the ABA.

Jackson graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in finance. As a student athlete he appeared in four NCAA tournaments and won two Big East championships. Jackson established a professional playing career with stints on nine NBA teams, four CBA teams, a WBL team, and a European team in the span of 13 years (from 1989-2002). His CBA career included one season with the Fort Wayne Fury. (1995-96)

Jackson capped his playing career as an integral part of the 1999 NBA World Champion, San Antonio Spurs. During that championship season, Jackson led the team in three-pointers made.

Jackson currently resides in Silver Spring, Maryland with his wife Terri and their 8-year-old son, Jaren Jr.
