I don't believe either Lott is, or Thurmond (at the end of his life) was, a racist. Is that clear enough? "Sheets" can give no other explanation for his obstruction of Dr. Rice's confirmation and, in fact, has never renounced his KKK past...except for expressing regret on how it has tarnished his political life.

Ditto for that egghead (Senate Minority Leader) Reid calling Clarence Thomas's written opinions unintelligible.
