I think Jekka and I will be watching the game somewhere tonight. We want good burgers and some good onion rings. A good beer selection is also a plus.

Where should we go?

Oh, and does any of the crew want to come?

Edit: I posted this under Jess' name 2 damn minutes after she told me she was still logged in. Idiot savant or just a damn idiot?

Mama's Cafe

Is Lyndie's on Fredricksburgh Rd still around?

Mama's has good burgers? I never had a burger there. Is that place on fredricksburg near medical? Cause if so yes.

Buck's Landing has awesome burgers. We ate there the other day for the first time.

Bucks landing is great, and they have some big screens near the front.

Great call Kori.

Either there, or Chris Madrids. They have a TV and of course, fantastic burgers.

MannyIsGod

Kori, where is Bucks landing and do you know how late they are open?

Chester's has the best burgers in town and a big screen to watch games on. At least the one off Broadway and 410 does.

I'm going out on a limb here, but you have never been to Casbeers, have you?

ETA: Casbeers is closed on Mondays, so don't go there tonight.

Chris Madrid's is good but I'm not sure how late they are open.

Chesters is the place for me when I am looking for great burgers and a game.

Casbeers is good, but they don't have a TV do they?

Last time I was there they had one. It's possible a live music act might interefere with the game, but I don't recall that ever happening. You might call and ask in advance.

MannyIsGod
01-24-2005, 02:39 PM
Just called Chesters, and they close at 10:30. Might do that and head over to the Flying Suacer afterwords (pint night, woo)

How good is Champs in Huebner Oaks?

Champs is good. We had our biggest GTG of all time there (like 70-80 people).

Champs is fantastic man. You have to remember though its a gourmet kitchen so if you do get a burger you are paying like $10 for it. It will be one helluva burger though!

Also on game nights get there an hour before the game starts unless you are sittign at the little bar.

MannyIsGod
01-24-2005, 02:45 PM
cool, we might do champs then.

Keep the suggestions coming.

I've been to Casbeers, went to go see Luke Olson play there once... food was OK but Chester's still has the best burgers in town.

Followed closely by Chris Madrid's.

You could always come into my bar at the Westin La Cantera and pay $10 for a burger.

$4.75 domestic bottles
$5.00 import bottles
$5.00 domestic draft
$5.25 import draft

Yeah I wouldnt go there for a game either so dont feel bad ;)

Tex's is good.......if their service has improved any and they've figured out what goes in a Scotch & soda. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.

Another suggestion (and I'm 4 years removed from my last visit there) is Billy Ts over on the Austin Highway. Very good burger and excellent onion rings.

Don't remember a TV though.

We used to have GTG's there a lot....but it started taking too long to get drinks and/or food and they always seemed to be pushing us out of the door.

And I don't think Kori dug the big chunk of glass in one of her drinks..... :wow

Honestly, look into Bracken Burger (don't know if they're still open latenight though), CheesyJanes, and Logans Roadhouse has good burgers, don't know about their rings though their fries are good.

You guys are talking about two different places. SpursWoman is talking about Tex's Sports Bar and Grill which is in the Hilton or whatever.

During the playoffs I go to Stoneworks at the Quarry if the weather is nice...

They always play the game outside on a huge projector screen and play WOAI as the commentator heh.

Billy T's is a good burger but no TV.

Hooters is set up for sports...

Fox and the Hound

Wing Stop?

I hear good things about Champs.

texbumTHElife
01-24-2005, 03:09 PM
Wings and More has become my Spurs joint of choice but I am not sure if you can get a burger there or not. I always get..... well...... wings :)

Oh yeah, tons. You do have to fight the young preppy "I am too good for you" crowd though and that can be annoying.

Ive heard this is a nice place.

Might be a bit cold to sit outside tonight, but what the hell, why not right?

MannyIsGod

fuck fox and the hound, that place is so pretensious.

It's free on TV everywhere, just wanted to go somewhere and watch it.

Kori Ellis
01-24-2005, 03:17 PM
Manny, I would say to just go to Champs.

texbumTHElife
01-24-2005, 03:18 PM
My vote is for Champs or Chesters....

At some point Fuddruckers will get hip again and get another big screen. Until then however they are good burgers and nothing more :rolleyes

Sec24Row7

The best burgers in San Antonio, hands-down, is Longhorn Cafe off of Blanco and 1604. They have a big screen, and a bunch of smaller TVs. It's not set up as a sports bar, but there is definitely the ability to watch the game there. Their onion rings are great, also.

Also, NE Baptist isn't too far, so you can swing by on the way home, and grab an angioplasty, which you'll need. But, they're wonderful burgers.

samikeyp
01-24-2005, 04:22 PM
Too bad Maggies closed.

No shit. We had some classic GTG's there...including Game 6 of the 2003 WCF when Timvp called the Spurs win when SA was 13 down and Steve Kerr had not yet come in.

Kori Ellis
01-24-2005, 04:24 PM
The Maggie's building is still empty I think. I know TPark wants to open a sports bar in the future. He should do it now when all the other places are closing down. We need a good GTG place. :)

samikeyp
01-24-2005, 04:28 PM
That's it. I am winning the big Lotto, buying that building and opening a sports bar. I will paint it silver and black and call it Mike's. TV's everywhere, good food and Manny's Kareoke Stage. :lol
