View Full Version : Didn't see Chris Paul congratulate

I didn't see Paul anywhere after the final horn, congratulating any of the Spurs.
Did anyone else?
It looked like Tony was looking for someone at the end, but then he looked in the crowd so maybe he was looking for Eva or somebody.
Walking off the court and not shaking your opponet's hand is pussy shit.
I maybe wrong but I didn't see him anywhere.

Yeah if Paul didn't shake Tony's hand that's incredibly lame.
Shame too...because Chris Paul is an absolutely fantastic basketball player...hopefully he'll grow out of that.
More than likely he just hates losing that much...
He flopped his way out of the court.

It's no secret Chris Paul has an attitude problem. He did walk off the court without showing sportsmanship. The Spurs are a dirty team but Parker has some class about himself. Check out the youtube video of Chris Paul punching an opposing player square in the nuts during his college days. The dude's a punk.

The Hornet have an incredible future. Hell, even their present is incredible. Having said that, they've exhibited some really lame immature traits that they better lose, otherwise, they'll remain almost champs

Tony and Chris are pretty good friends. I think Tony would understand if Chris took the loss too hard to go shake hands.
It's easy to be gracious when your team always wins.
For a young player who is that competitive, it's far more difficult. I think Tony knows Chris well enough to know not to take it personally. Tony Parker stays at Chris Paul's place during regular season games, for christ's sake.

"You've got to lose to know how to win."
Paul is a great player. He'll either mature into his game or he won't. Only time will tell. He has no problem with the ego to be a great player, he needs to learn how to be a gracious loser.

I believe he did walk off without congratulating anyone, but probably because he was about to cry. I'm sure Parker understands. And I'm sure Chris Paul thinks right now that this will be the most devastating loss ever. But there will be more losses (and wins) and he'll grow up.
He's extremely good. There's a lot of things I can't stand about him ... his forearm pushoffs, his dead ball flops and the way he loses his cool. But as soon as he matures, he's going to really dominate the league (as if he didn't already this season).

It changes nothing but it would of showed that he respects the Spurs and that will help him mature.
He can't go through his entire career being a cocky fuck.
I don't care about his personal relationship with Tony. Thats not what this is about.

totally agree. while it is the "mature" thing to do to congratulate your opponent, i can understand why he just needed to leave the court. it would be a different story if he had been a biotch at the end of the game. he just disappeared at the buzzer to go be pissed. tough thing losing to them spurs :flag:

Different people handle shit differently. If he's a punk in your eyes, then he's a punk in your eyes. Pretty sure he's not too concerned about your view of him.
OTOH, everyone's entitled to one mistake, especially when young. Isiah Thomas was a 30 year old when he walked off the court against the Bulls. Now that was weak.
Definitely weak. But, Isiah didn't do that because he was disappointed or hurt. Isiah did that because he didn't like Michael Jordan. He didn't give a fuck how he was perceived. He was a punk for it. Oh well.
What does it matter? It doesn't. It's just something else for fans to bitch about.
no matter how skilled you are and no matter how many resources you have, you will not succeed without the right attitude. CP3 needs to have the right attitude in order to mature and really grow. Problem with him is he is a hotheaded player. I hope he outgrows that and at the same time, find somebody to look up to ala Pop.
Leave him be. He's in for a rough night of "woulda, coulda, shoulda."

Last things first, Chris Paul will never know who I am - it's a message board and I'm messaging. I like Chris Paul, on the whole, I just wish he'd respect tradition and congratulate the victors. I don't think he'll do this again.
Definitely weak. But, Isiah didn't do that because he was disappointed or hurt. Isiah did that because he didn't like Michael Jordan. He didn't give a fuck how he was perceived. He was a punk for it. Oh well.

While we fans get on SpursTalk and fight with each other, the teams share a much different relationship. The Hornets and Spurs have had a pretty good relationship. Chris Paul and Tony Parker are friends. I'm pretty sure they both understand each other well enough that nothing needs to be said. The Hornets had the world and lost it tonight; I'm sure the Spurs understand.

It became abundently clear in this series that Chris Paul has an achilles heel.
That would be defense and why Deron Williams is currently the best PG in the NBA.
Tony Parker took it to him and ripped him a new asshole tonight. CP3 got a little cocky with all his accolades and I thought tonight for perhaps the first time since the Lakers had them down by 30 at Staples that his inexperience in big games showed.

He's a competitor and he hated losing. He'll probably handle it better as the years go on. this was his first playoffs and they were looking like they were going all the way this year until they ran into Timmy's squad.

You are 1/3 right.
Both Bird and Bryant have always given props to other players/teams when due. If you polled all NBA players on who the MVP was, Kobe wins it probably unanimously....that is how respected he is by the other players.

Thats not really fair because Parker does that to every team in the NBA. Deron Williams and defense go hand and hand as Nash and defense. Fisher held his own against Deron in the Utah series.
Even if MJ, Larry, and Kobe are huge pricks, did they ever neglect to congratulate their opponent in defeat? I don't know if that happened.

I agree with JamStone here... perhaps Paul could have stayed and congratulated them but maybe he couldnt keep his emotions in check... he probably went to the locker room and cried.

I was very surprised that he uses his forearms as much as he does. I know he's trying to create space. Sometimes it looks as though he's more concerned with drawing contact than making shots. Still a superstar-type player, but still somewhat immature.

Here's the thing. Chris Paul is like friends with everyone in the NBA. Off the court, he's one of the most well liked players in the league. On the court, he's a prick.
Who gives a shit about some pretentious handshake in a show of good sportsmanship, if off the court, you're really a dick.
Rather the player actually be genuinely nice in real person but a prick on the court because he's competitive than a player be two faced, shake your hand like a good sport, then be a dick off the court.
