Hasn't he picked against you every series thus far??

You all should consider him your lucky charm then.

Don't take it personally. He's just a slow learner:

I'm sure he'll catch up by the time the Spurs beat whomever comes out of the East, whom he'll undoubtedly have picked over the Spurs.

At least Hollinger is wrong with some consistency... he should make a brand new statistical tool to explain that.

Sheridan is the only guy who got the first two series right and picked us to beat LA.

Ah, good point. I still have an affection for Stein though. I always feel like he "knows" what he's talking about, or at least gives off the impression that he does.

Good = glad the Spurs are not favored but mark it down they will win this series and they will be the one doing it in less games than expected.

Probably because their brain freezed after they lost all their hair.

It looks like Legler and Thorpe did, too, although Legler is going with the Lakers now.

Hello,
According to my statistical analysis based on a work published in my book "Expert in sport by the numbers" (29$ on amazon), Sheridan only have a 23.7% chance to pick the winner of a series correctly 3 time in a row after picking the first two correctly.
Best regards,
John Hollinger

Thank goodness the a-hole idiots didn't pick us. Everything they predict normally the exact opposite happens.

I'm calling it now (pending we come out of the west) that the same fellows will pick the east champ against the Spurs making it the 4TH TIME during the 2008 playoffs..

Actually, Sheridan and Thorpe always picked spurs, but if you look closely then never changed prediction, so maybe they are on vacation since suns series

If one looks at last years picks, they all went with the spurs.

I wouldn't ding Hollinger too badly. I think it is less a reflection of his thinking that the Spurs are a bad team, than it is just that the teams making the playoffs this year are seem to be a notch higher on the quality scale relative to the Spurs, who are just as good as they were last year.

Although I will be as big of a homer as everybody else when it comes to hoping the Spurs will sweep their opponents, I just don't see that happening this year. It will be hard fought to the end, and waaay closer.

I kinda think of it as the fact that the Spurs seem to have made everybody elevate their game a little to keep up.

I'm going to start making money by betting the opposite of stats-boy Hollinger.

This Hollinger bastard is like a gambler. He's banking on the law of averages to catch up with the spurs. Keep betting against them until he's right, then say "see, I told ya they aint good enough" Sick idiot. I can't believe ESPN actually pays for his shit.

It's not so much expert predictions, it's just the teams they want to see win. They're just expert homers.

Couldn't ask for a more beautiful set of picks, considering that line through the middle perfectly delineates the dumbasses from the people who's opinion is worth noting.

Hollinger doesn't watch basketball. Andade is still a beat writer. Broussard is a tabloid writer. Ford's just an idiot.

Although for the life of me I can't remember Legler actually playing basketball, I generally respect his analysis.

Abbott's kind of a tool but he's coming around. He has something of a wierd obsession with the Spurs. If Portland doesn't make the playoffs next year and the Spurs field a good team, I could see him picking Spurs a lot more often. Otherwise his blog might turn into a clearinghouse for every random Spurs diatribe from the bowels of web 2.0 again like it has been for most of the playoffs this year. One iffy Bowen play against the Blazers though and he's completely off the reservation.

Well, it's tough to fault someone who correctly picked that the series would go 7 and picked the home team to win game 7, and there were a lot of guys who blew that Suns series pick pretty bad. I just picture them spitting out their drinks in shock as the Spurs picked apart Shaq. "What did Mike Breen just call that? A...pick and...roll? Fuck you Pop and your damn gimmicky offense!"

I actually enjoy Hollinger's articles. It's amazing to see the lengths he'll go in his research to find something to prove his point, but there are times when I wonder if he would even recognize a basketball.

No, my brain is fine, just as long as I stay out of direct sunlight and always have my puffer handy when I get too excited.

Actually I like Adande. He may not be right all the time, but he digs for stories and seems to be pretty competent when his opinion is asked about most things.

Why would Spurs fans bump a thread that makes them look like idiots?
