It's worth the $50 just to buy the TV. Then you factor in their gas price, usually 5-10 cents below local.

I wouldn't put Costco gas or Sam's club gas in my vehicle. That's just my opinion though. Their TV's are cheaper though. I would suggest getting a Samsung LCD if you can find one for that price range.

Get an LCD or Plasma...I would stay clear of DLP...too much maintenance...

You could probably get a Vizio for that..however I have a 47' Vizio that I got for my living room and have a 40' Samsung in my bedroom...both cost around $1700 and the Samsung blows the Vizio out of the water in every category. I find myself watching more stuff in my bedroom because the picture is so much better. So there is a difference and sometimes size isn't everything

I was just looking for size and bought the Vizio.. I wished I would have waited and got another Samsung or something other than the Vizio. The picture is so weird it's hard to explain- it just doesn't look good. The sound is terrible. I can see why they are so cheap.

The Vizio's are nice for the price. I can't knock them because I don't have one. I prefer with Samsung. I have one and the picture is beautiful.

Any opinions on LG?
LG is decent, their top of the line LCDs are actually very good and cheaper than most competitors.
That Samsung Plasma is nice and at a good price - not true HD though.

Costco.
seriously.
I concur...Costco beats everyone in price and customer satisfaction...but if Republicanisto is too cheap to spare $50 for a membership we are all wasting our time anyway....

I believe they heavily modified their return policy with regards to high end electronics.

true HD..is that 1080p?
True HD means that the screen resolution is 1920 by 1080 pixels. While such a screen displaying 1080i is true HD (that's the format that all the HD TVs are transmiting in), 1080p for screen is now already the norm (because of 1080p capable bluray players and gaming consoles).

What do you mean too much maintenance?
Maybe too much maintenace was the wrong word...they're usually bigger...fatter...heavier....and from what I've read...they use bulbs that occasionally burn out and have to be replaced...

I ended up finding a 52" SAMSUMG LCD 1080p at Circuit City for 2250. They had 50" Plasmas for 1399(Samsung)-1699(Panasonic) 720p, but my chick wanted the 52".
Any opinions on LG?I have a 50in LG and it's nice.

Why? It's the same gas as other places only less expensive to purchase.
Where I live there was an incident recently where a tanker accidently was filled the stations underground tanks with diesel fuel instead of unleaded and it messed up quite a few cars in town where people filled up in the morning before the mistake was caught.
The stations this truck had stopped and filled tanks at that morning were Chevron, Shell and Costco.......all buying gas from the same supplier.
Yeah A LOT of people believe that gas at one place is not as good as another. Most larger scale gas suppliers get their gas sent to them by the same distributor.

Aren't all the plasmas a good deal these days? But I understand that when you need to have them re-charged, they don't seem like such a good deal then. Spend the extra 5 or 6 hundred. Get an LCD.

Fade to 50% is like 20 years on a plasma if you use 100% output brightness. Most of the setting choices on mine are between 47 and 52% brightness, so technically, in 20 years, I could just dial it up to 100% and get the same pic I have now. I've never owned any television longer than 8 years. Shit, in 20 years, they'll have holographic projectors for the home to actually put you IN the show.
DLP has a great picture, but it does have issues. The bulbs only last a couple of years, and I had one friend that had a power outage while watching, and a big black diagonal swath of mirrors was left off when the power resumed. If you're going DLP, I HIGHLY recommend getting the extended warranty. I think you can also get generic bulbs as replacements for about half the cost.
