Pop won't need to foul the Lakers. The refs are already giving your team plenty of trips to the line this year:

The Lakers don't run a gimmick offense, meaning they don't have one player that runs the whole show. Everyone is a playmaker and everyone is a threat. To stop the triangle offense you really need to have a concerted effort from every player. In all the games that Gasol has played for us I've yet to see any team flat out stop the Laker offense in its tracks.

4 still greater than 3.

I mean, if you want to go that route, than the Lakers will never be as good as the Celtics. Fine by me.

From a serious point, Lamar has had trouble at the chairty line lately, so has Gasol. Not uncommon to see either miss one or both attempts. Yeah, if they get fouled normally and still can't hit, look for Hack-an-Odom and Hack-A-Gasol to appear.

Pop sometimes doesn't bother shutting down the entire offense. I have seen him shut down everybody but one big star and just let that star romp at will.

You don't know me very well. If you step up and try to call me on shit, I never say anything that I can't back up.

To wit:

The English lesson on "a" and "an" usage. (http://www.english-zone.com/grammar/a-anlessn.html)

A/AN - Lesson on Articles
WHEN TO USE -A-
Use a if the next word begins with a consonant SOUND.
This is a sound rule, NOT a spelling rule.

a box
a cat
a university (university begins with a consonant sound)
a unicorn (unicorn begins with a consonant sound)
a European trip (European begins with a consonant sound)
a hotel (hotel begins with a consonant sound)
WHEN TO USE -AN-
Use AN if the next word begins with a vowel SOUND.
This is a sound rule, NOT a spelling rule.

an atom
an entrance
an ice cream cone
an uncle (uncle begins with a vowel sound)
an hour (the h is silent, thus a vowel sound)

Maybe you can enlighten me as to what sound an "O" makes, in case I missed that one...?

I wondered if the term Hack -an "name" has ever been used. To use that term is so GAY!

Name

The name is a colloquial (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colloquial) rhyme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhyme) that comes from the term hack being common basketball slang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slang) meaning to commit a personal foul, and Shaq being the oft-used shortened version of O'Neal's first name. Although the name is obviously informal, no more formal name for the strategy has yet come into common usage (probably because the strategy is relatively new and rarely used). Even in the context of more formal conversation, the name Hack-a-Shaq is generally used.
The term Hack-a-Shaq, with its "catchy" sound and its familiarity among basketball fans, is frequently used even when referring to the use of the strategy against a specific player other than O'Neal. However in many such cases, fans, broadcasters and members of the media seek another appellation coined to use a different rhyme or alliteration based upon the specific targeted player's name. Recently used examples include "Bash-a-Biedrins" for Andris Biedrins Bruise-a-Bruce for Bruce Bowen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Bowen), Bop-a-Ben, Bump-a-Ben or Whack-a-Wallace for Ben Wallace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Wallace), Chop-a-Diop for DeSagana Diop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeSagana_Diop), and Slap-a-Skinner for Brian Skinner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Skinner). In other cases, attempts at a clever sound are abandoned, and the name of the targeted player is simply substituted for Shaq in Hack-a-Shaq (e.g. Hack-a-Ben, Hack-a-Wallace, or Hack-a-Howard for Dwight Howard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwight_Howard)).
The Hack-a-Shaq name was originally used during O'Neal's college playing days, and during his NBA tenure with the Orlando Magic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orlando_Magic). At that time, however, the term referred simply to opposing teams employing an especially physical style of play in defending against O'Neal. Teams sometimes defended him by bumping, striking or pushing him after he received the ball in order to ensure that he did not score easily with layups or slam dunks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slam_dunk). Because of O'Neal's poor free throw shooting, teams did not fear the consequences having personal fouls called against them when using such tactics.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hack-a-Shaq#cite_note-0)[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hack-a-Shaq#cite_note-1)[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hack-a-Shaq#cite_note-2) However, once Nelson's off-the-ball fouling strategy became prevalent, the term Hack-a-Shaq was applied to this new tactic, and the original usage was largely forgotten.

But this is NOT a fluke team. They are number one in the West, and, so far, are playing the best in the playoffs.
