Convert the avi's to divx avi, then convert the divx to a gif.
You can do this with a program called Dr.Divx. The program will also let you set the file size before it does the conversion.
Remember, the smaller you set the file size the lesser the quality will be...but Divx retains quality under compression better than any other format.....It can make a file much smaller than the original AVI and retain near the same quality.

LOL , I know it's not fake, I was joking because of what people said about the cheerleader video...that it had to be fake because it was dangerous.
Are you sure the program you have won't work?
The Divx file extension is AVI...If not, I do have a program that does it I think, let me look around..

I can't find anything on my PC Slov, this is a relatively new PC that doesn't have all my programs on it...but I do know there is something about there to make that conversion because I have done it before.
I think the name of the program was Gypsee Pro.

Slovenian...this isn't what I used before but try this:
Tutorial - Convert DivX to animated GIF (http://www.riverpast.com/en/support/tutorials/convert/divx/gif.php)
System Requirements
DivX files are actually AVI files containing DivX codecs by DivX Networks. To convert DivX files to animated GIF with River Past Video Cleaner, you should have DirectX 8.0 or above (9.0 highly recommended), DivX Codecs, and River Past Animated GIF Booster Pack installed.
Launch River Past Video Cleaner
Once River Past Video Cleaner is installed properly, launch Video Cleaner.
More Info
Add File
Click on the "Add" button on the tool bar. The standard file open dialog appears. Select "DivX Video" in its "Files of type" combo box.
Select the file you want to convert and click "Open". The file will be added to the conversion file list.
Select output format
Use the setting panel to the right side of the window to control the output format. Select "Animated GIF" as the "File Type".
More Info
Change Video Settings
Expand the video panel by clicking on the toggle to the left of the "Video" label.
Select "Specify" for "Size" and "Frame rate".
You can change the size, and frame rate of the video.
Select output directory
Expand the "Output Directory" panel. Use the button to select an output directory.
Convert!
Click the "Convert" button on the tool bar.
I leave it up to you to find the software...there are other programs that do it as well, I am certain.

You can do this with Photoshop, Paintshop Pro or any other advanced graphics program. Those Gifs are already pretty small so it would be as easy as converting these to .JPG (JPeg) format. You'll lose some of the density, but this format is much more web friendly. If you wanted to keep them in GIF format you could also reduce some of the colors using the same programs.
