Tom Orsborn: Spurs vow to have short memory

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - The Spurs didn't have practice today, choosing instead to meet with the media at Castle Del Mar Hotel, which sits on Ocean Avenue and Pico, just a stone's throw away from the beach.

Predictably, Gregg Popovich said the Spurs' first order of business after Wednesday night's stunning 89-85 loss to the Lakers is to put the game behind them and move on.

Of course, that's easier said than done after you blow a 20-point third-period lead and score only 13 points in the fourth period on 3-of-21 shooting from the field.

"More than anything, we just want to let that game go and realize it's just one game," Popovich said. "We had a great opportunity and did not take advantage of it. They were great in the fourth quarter defensively, did a wonderful job, and they are up 1-0.

"So the important thing for us is to not linger, but to just move forward and play the game on Friday with the same energy and hopefully a little bit more decision-making that is good."

Still, Popovich said he doesn't want his team to entirely forget how embarrassing it was for it to squander a commanding lead.

"You don't want to be complacent about it and act like it did not happen," Popovich said. "We want to be angry about the fourth quarter and how we gave up the lead. Part of it is because they played as well as they did and they deserve credit for that. But we don't want to take it lightly and gave something away. The Lakers took it back in the fourth quarter, so we have to bring it again on Friday."
