Somebody should copy all these posts down and publish them in a book, it would sell millions as the funniest book ever written.
And for the record, we had our way with Detroit this year. It took a last second 3 pointer by Prince just to eek one out against us in Detroit. Then go to a Suns board, why are u still here? THESE fans have given up, the real ones haven't.

The Spurs have won four championships in the post Jordan era and have won at least one playoff series every year Duncan has been available for the playoffs.

You needed almost 7 games to beat the Utah Jazz, the same JAzz we beat in 5 last year. You are up 2-0 mainly because Manu is hurt pure and simple.

This is a daunting task. The Spurs have to win without a big cog, and if they do that just shows how much heart this team has.A healthy Bynum and this series is over in 4 - since Bynum is out & Genobili is slightly injured - it will be over in 5 (Spurs go fishing).

There's really no debate here. Duncan is the most accomplished player in the modern NBA (other than maybe Shaq, I guess), but Kobe is the best baller alive. Shoot ... their backup PG (Farmar) is better than our starter (Parker).
Other than Duncan, there's no one I'd take on the Spurs over anyone on the Lakers, at the same position.
Not too bright are you? The spurs have been kicking ass for a decade and have played far more basketball than any other team (especially the last 5 or 6 years). It may be catching up to them, but Parker is way better than any point guard the Lakers have.
The top three players for the Spurs (especially Gino and Parker to a lesser extent) look worn out.

Oh you're right. The Silver & Black have played good consistent basketball for a decade. At times, they've even been very good and won 4 titles.
I don't know if it's injuries or fatigue, but right now, the Laker guards are WAY better than the Spurs guards. Their bigs are better than ours, and their bench is unbelievable. It's simple really. Their guys make shots, and ours don't.

Well Duncan can change the game when we are making shots off the double teams. We are not doing that at all and Manu can't get anything going. Of course Tim can be taken out of a game offensively with hard aggressive double teams but if the Spurs made them pay more for that tactic, his impact would be greater.

What an horrible showing on both end of the court.
Almost all Spurs were horrible in this game.
Since the 6 min mark of first game third quarter, Spurs have been outscored by 54 !
That says it all.
Spurs don't belong on the same court as those guys. 2001 all over again.

If everybody plays to their potential, the list goes like this (IMO):
1) Kobe
2) Duncan
3) Manu
4) Odom
5) TP
6) Gasol
7) Bowen
8) Lakers bench
12) Spurs bench
Forgot Odom, that was my fault. But no, TP is not better than Gasol, and Bowen is certainly not better than the top guys off the bench for the Lakers (as good as Bowen is at what he does).

Well Duncan can change the game when we are making shots off the double teams. We are not doing that at all and Manu can't get anything going. Of course Tim can be taken out of a game offensively with hard aggressive double teams but if the Spurs made them pay more for that tactic, his impact would be greater.
For sure, he's not a Hall of Famer for nothing, I have much respect for Duncan and wished we had him instead of Gasol or Bynum. I just don't think he's a changer (as good as) Kobe.

Manu's problem is 60% his own and the the remaining 40% is the Lakers and specifically Vujacic crotching up to him on defense.
I don't buy that. This is the same Manu that had a great finals against an awesome defensive Piston Team. Manu is not pressing because he has no lift on his shot and can't cut and change direction like he normally can. When he tries to take it to the hole he gets it blocked with ease because he has no explosion.

It's not so much that Sasha is a great defensive player, he's just damn irritating. He butthugs you on defense so half the time I think Manu's thinking about punching him in his whiny face rather than the game. And I've seen him whispering to the guy he guards too probably like "you like the feel of my nuts on you?". Something, it's not the first time Sasha gets elbowed.

The thing the Spurs should loathe the most about tonight's game is that they've allowed D-Fish, LO and especially Farmar to regain all the confidence they were starting to lose during the Jazz series. Farmar was starting too look like a D-league player against Iverson and D-Will, and I was expecting TP to just finish him off. So much for that. It looks like he's got some of his swagger back, which I think is essential for a young player Like him.

I'd say that Manu's problem is 85%-90% to his own, then the Vujacic effect is an impact of Manu's bad decision makings and frustration.
He would clearly torch Vujacic if he wasn't bothered by his injury, now he doesn't have any explosiveness and just shoot too many jumpers.
Manu who comes off his best nba season of his carreer is just not playing like himself and he's sometimes more hurting the team than helping.

Spoken like a true sore loser. If you live in Texas, keep your inbred ass there for the rest of your virginity-ridden life. Wishing injury on the opposing team is about the lowest garbage you can do, even if the player's killing you.
You're about as morally bankrupt as they come. Just kill yourself tonight.
You have made two statements about me that are right. I am pissed at this loss and I am from Texas. I am happy I don't live close to that mass of tree hugging airhead phonys in California. The rest of your comments are completely wrong since my parents were not related and my kids are a hell of a lot more intelligent than you are.
It's entirely possible you don't live in California since Lakers fans are more spread out and less loyal (I heard those boos on Wednesday with all those "fans"). It's easy to be a Lakers fan because they are constantly given "gifts" from the stupid organizations - it's gone on for 35 years. The Lakers have never had to rebuild with the constant gifts they are given (Wilt, Jabbar, Magic, Worthy, Scott, Shaq, Kobe, Gasol - I could go on forever about the way they have been getting players and high #1 picks for spare parts and garbage througout their history in LA).
I get tired of punks like you with your 20 or 21 posts blathering about how great your Lakers (supposedly) are and being complete jerks on the ST site. If blowhards like you wouldn't throw stuff in our faces, we wouldn't retort in an angry way. Retort means respond - I wanted to spell that out for you given the brain power you have exhibited so far tonight on this board.
Take all 21 of your posts and stick them where the sun doesn't shine. Go to Lakerground where people ignorant about basketball go.

I'm pissed because I'm tired of Bryant using his elbows as weapons and trying to take players out. Did you see what he did to Bowen tonight or were you making love to your Phil Jackson blow up doll? Hitting Bowen in the throat/jaw with an elbow is garbage - his intent was obvious. Bryant gets away with it all the time because he is the great Kobe - the Kobe rules are obviously in effect. "Busting someone up" can mean taking a hard foul on someone to say "we're coming after you" the rest of this series. To take it on the chin and smile isn't how competitors should react to what happened tonight.
Your star player is the poster boy for "morally bankrupt" by the way. Remember Colorado? The face of your franchise is a dirtbag and always has been. Bryant's been gifted with great talent, but his ego and attitude both stink.
The Spurs have a bunch of hard working guys that have never embarrassed the Spurs organization with behavior off the court. I appreciate their accomplishments and very badly want them to win.

First of all, I apologize for idiotic trolls in this forum. I am ashamed of how classless some of these fans are...
Now that that's out of the way..
I may be one of the few Die Hard Laker fans here that would admit that this series Far from OVER until it's officially OVER. What I admire about the spurs is how successful this team has been with the same core players. I know that the spurs will definitely come out with a different kind of focus and determination. The Spurs should use their strong point.. which is team experience. You guys have a bunch of Winners in your team. NO series should be an example of how determination, experience and perseverance could conquer tough situations. I detest people that question the heart of a champion, so i try not to do the same when it comes to the spurs.
To my fellow Laker Fans: Please act like Grown ups and don't give us Laker fans a bad reputation. Give respect when it's due. The truth of the matter is, the Spurs have won multiple championships and they are have earned those. Show a little respect then maybe they'll show some to us..
To the Spurs Fans: Good luck the rest of the series. Much respect and may the best team wins.

This team needs to do what the Lakers did ... rebuild their bench and hopefully get lucky with a lopsided trade or a stud in the draft.
Shoot ... their backup PG (Farmar) is better than our starter (Parker).
Other than Duncan, there's no one I'd take on the Spurs over anyone on the Lakers, at the same position.
Spurs don't make lopsided trades like the Lakers. Thomas was their big trade this year. They are too conservative to pull the trigger on major trades.

I won't count Stoudamire as a true member of the Spurs since he is a failed mid season fill in. I don't know about this Horry thing you mention, but the guys that make it happen on this team have NOT been on the police blotter. Bryant embarrassed himself, his family, humiliated his wife for all the world to see. He also sealed the Lakers fate for four or five years with the Shaq thing.
Kobe got suspended for just about breaking Ginobili's nose last year with his flying elbows. That guy does it all the time and only occasionally gets called for it. In fact, I don't think he got called for a foul on that one.
Please tell me the last time Bowen went under a shooter? two or three years ago. He was suspended for the first time in his career this year after he had the audacity to get hit in the nuts by Chrissy Paul.
Ginobili (when he is healthy) has an awkward component to his game, but he does not travel any more than Bryant. The flopping thing is way overstated since your boys Fisher and Vagina (I mean Sasha V) are very skilled in that area as well. Manu is not a dirty player at all. It takes guts to take charges, and he really is not doing that as much any more to help avoid injuries.

Bowen's a dirty player, there's no denying that. There's an actual youtube clip of Bowen defending players and all of a sudden those players wind up with their ankles and feet being hurt. Carmelo, Kobe, AI, and Vince Carter have all been subjected to his bullshit. Manu travels....you call it awkward, I call it taking four steps into the lane and then releasing his shot. Let's not forget Cheap Shot Rob who took out Steve Nash last year and incidentally took out David West this season. As for Kobe running Shaq out of town, it was Jerry Buss who ultimately made the (correct) decision of getting rid of Shaquille. And talking about that is also tiring, so you also stop.

(Wilt, Jabbar, Magic, Worthy, Scott, Shaq, Kobe, Gasol - I could go on forever about the way they have been getting players and high #1 picks for spare parts and garbage througout their history in LA).
So now it's our fault that our front office had the balls to make some moves? Remember, it takes at least 2 teams to complete a trade. Kuptchak didn't run into Memphis with a ski mask, waving a gun around and asking for Gasol. Let's examine your rage-triggered rant:
Wilt - Came in a trade
Jabbar - Came in a trade
Magic - The Lakers won a freaking coin toss that year for the right to draft in the position they did that year. By the way, that pick? They got it for trading some "garbage" player named Gail Goodrich.
Scott - Came in a trade for another key piece in the Lakers success in the early 80's, Norm Nixon.
Shaq - Signed with the Lakers on his own, unless you're gonna tell me Jerry West blackmailed him.
Kobe - Came in a trade (before he even played one pre-season game) from the Hornets for Vlade Divac. There was no way of knowing he'd become what he's become.
Gasol - Came in a trade.
Now besides Worthy being drafted with the #1 pick in the draft, I hardly consider any of those transactions gifts. But while we're on the subject, let's talk about the Spurs, a perennial playoff team, landing the #1 pick in the draft the year Tim Duncan came out? Now that's a gift.
Finally, attacking me due to my low post count is really reaching, grandpa. I post in another website regularly, and I just found out this website existed about 2 days ago. Gifts? They are called trades and drafts. Were we fortunate to be in a good draft position to get magic and worthy? No doubt, but certainly no more a "gift" than say....hmmmmmm..... who comes to mind... oh Robinson and Duncan? The Lakers have been fortunate to not have long rebuilding periods because they also have drafted well and developed those players. Case in point, the bench that is currently torching your team. Do you not remember the 90's? We suffered many years of mediocre play but you convienantly forget those. You pull out the "gifts" whine when your own team certainly has their own history of gifts. Lame.

This is soooooooooooooo beyond ignorant I am almost at a loss for words. Are you really honestly trying to villify Kobe for an inadvertant elbow to of all people Bowen? Did you see Bowen deleberate elbow to Sasha in game one? Do i really need to go on with the HUNDREDS of dirty and deliberate cheap shots Bowen gives? How stupid can you possibly be to use Bowen as a victum in a cheap shot argument. FAR FAR BEYOND LAME!
Your star player is the poster boy for "morally bankrupt" by the way. Remember Colorado? The face of your franchise is a dirtbag and always has been. Bryant's been gifted with great talent, but his ego and attitude both stink.
I dont think you would have a hard time finding a lot of laker fans that dont like some of the ego and attitude issues that have come with Kobe. But what we do like is his work ethic, his desire, his competitiveness, and skills. He also has learned to become a much better team player which is only going to bring gloom and doom for you guys for the rest of his career. If you are going go on the "morally bankrupt" rant over a NBA player cheating on his wife then you better reserve a lot of time cause Kobe is just one name on a long list. Im guessing you posted about MJ being a dirtbag during his reign. Magic during his etc etc. You cannot belittle Kobe's game so in yet another LAME retort, you have result to bashing his character. His character isnt tearing your Spurs apart. His game is. Your just a Kobe hater and haters hate.

I am serious about Bryant running out of gas. He was born in 1978 and has been in the NBA 12 years with heavy heavy minutes after year one.
The Spurs are suffering from this to a certain extent with the numerous deep playoff runs over the last 5 or 6 years. The Lakers (outside of Bryant) have not had this issue.
I just think that Bryant will suffer the effects of the heavy minutes more quickly since he is a guard and must rely on his quickness to be effective. Is it wishful thinking too? Yeah! The guys a jerk. Other players in the league consider him to be a prima donna jerk. You guys cannot dispute that given his history.

To a man they had nothing but praise for Kobe and his work ethic and attitude. Have you actually ever really talked to a single player or are you just buying into all the media crap? As for the breaking down. Yes he has more than average mileage on his body. He also has a much better than average team of nutritionalists, trainers, therapists etc. surrounding him. Hes got a good 4 or 5 years left at this level. Maybe in that time you guys can retool but of course to do that... you will need "GIFTS".:bang

I'm not worried about this series. I'm worried by how exhausted the Spurs will be by the NBA Finals. Hopefully Detroit/Boston go 7 games in the ECF.

Spurs were complacent DURING this season.
56W
shitty road record
badly losing record against NBA top 6 or 7 teams
sucked in the season, sucking in the playoffs
Tim is insanely wealthy and bored to death with bball. You could see it all season.
I beg to differ. The Spurs were atleast .500 better against the other 7 playoff teams except Phoenix against whom we were 1-3, and we saw how much that mattered.

I'm pretty sure you're extremely proud of your high post count, as I now see you measure intellect and basketball knowledge solely on that. Congratulations on spewing your worthless opinion on this site 351 times, apparently it means the world to you.
So you come in and discover this site two days ago and start throwing stuff in our faces. Good for you. Some other genius uses his first post to complain about me. Great.
Do you know any of the players the Lakers traded for Chamberlain or Jabbar? Let's truly "examine" this shall we.
The players traded for Chamberlain were spare parts (West and Baylor were not sent packing). Kent Benson, Brian Winters and Junior Bridgeman were the key parts sent to Milwaukee for Jabbar - who forced his way out of Milwaukee in a contract dispute.
A washed up Gail Goodrich at 34 years of age (I think Goodrich was drafted in the mid 1960s by LA) was sent to the Jazz for what became Magic Johnson in 1979 as the #1 pick. Don't be throwing Gail Goodrich around as a great player by the time he got to the Jazz. He was just about finished and the Lakers got Magic for 12 years. That's akin to the Lakers trading Derek Fisher this summer and getting Michael Beasley in the draft the following year.
The Cleveland Cavaliers traded for Don Ford (remember him) and a very low Laker #1 pick (that turned out to be a stiff) for a 1982 #1 pick from Cleveland that turned out to be James Worthy.
Norm Nixon was a declining player when they got rid of him and got the 4th pick in the draft in Scott, back when the 4th pick in the draft could get you well seasoned college player.
The point about O'Neal is they did not have to pay compensation other than the cash to obtain him in 1996. A dominant player in his absolute prime for no draft picks or players. This deal also allowed LA to trade Divac (a guy they no longer needed in the last year of his contract) to the Hornets for the rights to Kobe. Divac left the following year for Sacramento leaving Charlotte with nothing.
Kwame Brown and a couple of low #1s for Gasol is a joke. That is not equal value at all. Kwame had a big contract and no game. Memphis is another in the long line of suckers who have bailed out the Lakers.
I think its clear that it took absolutely no balls to make these trades I have listed above. It just doesn't - the Lakers (to their credit) took advantage of some incompetent organizations through the years to stay on top by landing top players and not have to truly rebuild their roster. Laker fans are completely spoiled over the years and this attitude comes through with many of the posters coming in here this week. The sense of entitlement is shown with many of you Laker "Fans".
My team had to endure some really rotten seasons to obtain Robinson and Duncan. These players were picked with #1 owned by SA and yes they were fortunate to win the lottery those two years. Still, the Spurs had the third worst record in the league prior to the 1987 and 1997 drafts.
The lopsided trades like the Lakers have made have not been available to the Spurs. That's the deal. They have had to be creative in building their roster with limited resources the last 10-12 years. The highest draft pick they have had since 1997 has been the 24th pick in the draft. Yet with picks like Parker and Ginobili, they have been able to win championships. I think that's pretty impressive and not as much of a gift.

Game 2 is being replayed right now on TNT, just in case you Lakers bandwagoners want to rub another one out before you have to go night night.

You could have saved yourself a lot of typing by simply typing in these 2 words: Sour Grapes.
I like how you hold yourself to a higher standard because you and your team had to "endure" more than a Laker fan. Hahaha, did your marriage suffer because of this? Man, you guys are getting just a little carried away.
And just for the record, I wouldn't give a shit if I was fresh out of the fucking womb. If you come on here and pop off like an asshat, you're gonna hear about it regardless how many days or posts I have. That's about the most pathetic cop out you could have come up with. "Wah, wah!! Don't throw it in our faces if you only have 2 days on here, wah!" :lol

I'm watching this series and laughing. It's bullshit. Just like the New Orleans series. The Spurs are sleeping while the other teams get easy buckets and cheap hype. The Spurs need to wake up, no doubt though.

Wow a polite lakers fan. Welcome to the forum.
It would have been really nice to win 1 of the first 2 games in LA, but the Spurs have been in this situation before. I believe they will win both in SA and my confident they can win at least one in LA.

Hmmmmm, I was at the FIBA games this summer. I was fortunate to have access to the players from all over the world not to mention the best the USA has to offer. Actually--I remember when Manu played in the all-star game a year or two ago, Kobe was really complimentary to Manu and was a real cool dude in giving props to Manu during the pre-conference both before and after the game.
I don't really mind Kobe being cocky--but some of the Laker fans who have their heads shoved up his ass are something else.

The score is almost exactly the same as your '05 Game 4 loss to the Pistons,102-71, tying the series at 2-2. You went on to win the Series.
In round 1, you took 4 of 5 from the team I thought might be your biggest test, Phoenix.
In round 2 you dug out of an 0-2 hole to come back and take 4 of 5 from an excellent N.O. team.
Do what you've been doing at Home (win), force another Game 7, and perhaps we'll see you in the Finals.
