Okay so i got a really good deal on an IMAC 2.4ghz duo core 20" lcd screen 2 gigs of ram 350gig hard drive. Paid $900 for it.

Now i need some help, i'm a Mac virgin, safari virgin. Any help/tips you might think i should know for basic tasks, that i would normally do on a pc would be greatly appreciated.

If I knew anything about macs I'd help you. I'm happy you got a good deal, hope it works out for you and it really isn't my place to criticize, but damn, I wouldn't use a mac if I got it for free.

My fathers business actually just replaced all their PC's with macs. I just about killed him when I found out, but so far him and his employees have been fairly impressed. Plus, I'd imagine Vista still sucks. All things being equal macs don't actually sound that bad anymore, but the thing is, as a PC user who will always be stubborn abotu switching, I feel threatened by the idea that macs are starting to catch on, thus they could potentially ruin the fact that PC's are still the software industry standard.

I like the macs for several reasons, and have been using both Macs and PCs for a very long time.

But...

The "graphic artist/designer...." excuse is just a load of BS. There isn't a graphic function a Mac can do better than a PC. After hearing that same excuse from a lot of people I've come to the conclusion it's an image thing (seriously 99% of the pro graphic applications are the exact same).

I'd rather see those people just admit that the Macs look better and that it's a status symbol. There's nothing wrong with that (it has worked for Rolex for years) and it's an honest argument.

If there's one thing that make Macs better than the PC is the OS - something that most user have no idea about and would be hard pressed to enumerate 10 functions that are better in one or the other.

:tu

I love everything apple.

Basically, if you're working on something and think:

"boy it would be neat if it worked like this..."

That's how it works.

Welcome to the wonderful world of macs :)

boot camp, dumbass - if you don't want to have to boot into Vista or XP use parallels or VMWare Fusion.
