God is so good!

Last Saturday, my elderly landlady/ rooomate of the past three years told me that she no longer felt able to keep boarders and so asked that I would move somewhere else by August.

That was not good news to me because it seemed like an unpleasant interruption and distraction from the goals I am currently pursuing.

I spent the first part of this week frantic and upset, but then I wised up and prayed about it and just started looking for a place.

I made several inquiries none of which worked out- until now.

I am happy to report that I have found a GREAT place to move.

It is ten minutes from where I am living now- so a new neighborhood for a fresh start but close enough to where I am used to, to be convenient.
My roommate is a really nice girl and her little boy is adorable.
The duplex is great, the rent is so reasonable and includes all the perks I wanted- utilities, a great room, bathroom, internet and digital cable, as well as use of the kitchen, laundry, backyard, and plenty of linen closet and pantry space.

I already met some of my neighbors. They were super nice and welcoming.

I move in June 1st and absolutely cannot wait.

So yea! :)

Hey baby :eyebrows

Any room for Daddy Quixote? I'll park Rosinante in your front yard if you don't mind.

I bring many tangibles, and some intangibles, to the table. I have some length, a nose for the ball, and high basketball IQ. I can also read the Bible in the original Hebrew and Greek (although my Greek stinks, admittedly). And I have two degrees, one from a secular school, and a master's from a Baptist seminary. And I shower frequently, and have been known to brush my teeth on occasion.

Forget these other guys. I'm the one for you, baby.

Hmm ... 3 is awfully young. But, I guess when the Holy Spirit is moving and converting, he can do it at any age. But I thought you were smuggled out of a Slovenian orphanage by a pack of monkeys, and delivered at the doorstep of Peter Holt. That's what I picked up, anyway, from your posts.

I converted to Christianity during college, and was called into ministry a few years later. I was not raised in the church, so alot of this is new to me!

Do you remember being 3? I can vaguely remember events at ages 4-5.

I don't remember everything from any stage of my life, but the important memories are all very vivid.

I remember December of that year my mom talking to my sisters and me about Christmas being Jesus' birthday.
I wanted to give Jesus a present and was very upset because I didn't know how to mail it to Him.

My family went to some holiday program at church on Christmas eve- it was a play.
After the play, a pastor spoke about all Jesus wanted for Christmas was for us to let Him live with us in our hearts.
So that's what I gave Jesus for Christmas.

Granted my understanding grew with age, but that was when I first chose to believe.

Three year olds make choices- choose to eat peanut butter and jelly, choose to throw fits or no.
You know what you are doing by age 3.

What type of ministry are you involved in?

I've long thought that adopted kids can have a special understanding of God's adoption of us, in a way that the rest of us can't. Truly, we were "aliens and strangers," but he has now "given us a home." 1 Peter!

Right now, I'm still in the schoolhouse, at the illustrious New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, preparing to enter into the PhD program in Theology and Christian Thought. I'm looking for a student assistant or grader job, although nothing's open right now. I'm also involved in a church re-plant in Metairie. I have several friends involved in church plants in the French Quarter and Uptown, as well as service projects in the poor and hard-hit parts of town.

I don't recall making any major decisions at the age of 3.

As a matter of fact, I don't recall much at age 3.

However at age 4, I learned to hold my breath underwater, learned various 4 letter words, got in a fight, and I remember my friend Daniel.

I was very fascinated by four lettered words and the reaction I would recieve from my elders.

My parents were not.

I do recall a story of peeing outside in the church yard after service. Everyone was mingling outside and I decided to pull down my pants and go.
It's a habit I picked up from my Popo. I believe I was 3.

Of course, she's cute, doofus. And she is ... well, luved by all!

But marriage is punishment for shoplifting in some countries.

How are his grooming habits? Can he cook? Is he willing to clean? What are his feeling about children? And is he Calvinist, or is he an Arminian? We need to know these things.

I love, love, love my new place! :D

I finished moving in yesterday, everything except a dresser which I am getting next weekend.

I have so much space, especially in comparsion to the place I had rented the past three years and not more than ten minutes further away from my work, church, bank etc.
The neighborhood is great and I have the nicest roommate ever.

:elephant :elephant

I feel silly now, but I was super nervous about moving, when it came to unpacking the last load; I.E. being officially in.

I couldn't immediately bring myself to unpack the last bit, so I went to the Dollar store
( which my duplex is only five minutes from :elephant) to walk off my nerves.
I ended up spending $45 on necessities"- plates, glasses, wastebasket, cleaning supplies, washcloths,3 bottles of water ( I don't know why; I was stressed), and bandaids.
I am so glad I went to the Dollar store and not Walmart- at least I have quite a bit to show for my splurge and thankfully all of it is stuff that I will be able to use.

Last night I fell right to sleep and for the first time in weeks, if not a month, slept all the way through the night.

I feel much happier now- about everything. :)

Let's hope Garfield, at least, has a job, and doesn't sit at home all day watching cartoons!

However, there is something to said for Animaniacs (and Warner Bros. in general), the Batman series from the 90's, the Simpsons, and King of the Hill. If those are the cartoons, then Garfield gets a pass. He has taste.

Hmmm, I probibily shouldn't mention the fact that I'm currently watching cartoons.

However, I am employed. I just don't go in until the afternoon/evenings.

I happen to have several Animaniacs videos. The Warner Bros. revival of the 90's rocked. Good times, indeed.

And you can never go wrong with the Simpsons. Even by criticizing their recent seasons, that's still an acknowledgment of how great they once were.

And I'm a huge fan of King of the Hill. Consistently excellent.

But I don't imagine this kid watches any of these "adult shows."

(And notice ... no Family Guy in this discussion. None.)
