If Parker stops falling down after layup attempts and counting on a ref's whistle making his falling down worth it, the Spurs Defense is like 30% better.
And we are playing good D against the Lakers. NO exposed our weakness on D by pushing the ball no matter what after Parker fell down. It's a testament to everyone else's defense that it resulted in as few points as it did, but it is still a huge weakness.
Parker can't let Derek Fisher outplay him. If Parker wises up, plays out of his mind, but SMART, we can get this. He is still getting to the paint even when the Lakers see him coming. Hopefully Parker studies some game tape and realizes this.

It's hard to play good defense, when your offense fails to make any shots at all. It's the same as game 2 of NO series. Look at the 1st half of the game, and lakers only scored 47 points. Our defense is not the problem, we just have to make shots. We had way too many open looks, that just did not fall. Between Manu, Horry, and Parker if we make half the shots we missed, we go in at half with a lead. If we are not gonna pentrate, then we have to make jumpers, and our defense gets a little help.

Parker outscored Fisher by 2 points in game 2 but it takes him 10 more shots to do that.
Parker outassisted Fisher by 1 assists in Game 2 but it takes him 4 more turnovers to do that.
Parker needs to significantly win his matchup against Fisher if Spurs want to have a chance to win this series.

Statistically, the Spurs allowed a higher FG% by the opposition than anytime over the past 5 years. They've not been as good defensively as in years past.

Where do you get 30% from?

Duncan and Bowen are the only good defenders on your team. The Lakers offense is good enough to take advantage of this.

I thought Finley was the only defensive liability.

Parker has been falling down after layups for seven seasons now.

There are many good points and observations in this thread.
I definitely agree that they need to make their shots, over and above the need to score. The momentum of the game shifts after 1 basket, creating better shooting opportunities and fostering the champion attitude. A scoring drought sucks the life out of the spurs like a jedi mind trick!
