Tom Orsborn: Manu will come off bench tonight
Gregg Popovich said at this morning's shootaround he will stick tonight with the same starting lineup he used in Game 2. That means Michael Finley will get the start at shooting guard, and Manu Ginobili will come off the bench.
Popovich is starting Finley in an attempt to cut back on the worn-down Ginobili's minutes. Ginobili, who has an ankle injury, didn't talk to reporters. He appreared to be moving well during shooting drills at the team's practice facilty.
Popovich employed his trademark sarcasm when asked if Ginobili was feeling better today after a full day of rest. The Spurs, who must pull themselves out of an 0-2 hole to the Lakers if they are going to defend their NBA title, didn't practice Saturday.
"I didn't go home with Manu," the coach said. "I didn't stay overnight. I didn't wake up with him this morning. So I would have to answer that question in the negative and say I haven't seen any change in Manu."
