Tom Orsborn: Manu will come off bench tonight

Gregg Popovich said at this morning's shootaround he will stick tonight with the same starting lineup he used in Game 2. That means Michael Finley will get the start at shooting guard, and Manu Ginobili will come off the bench.

Popovich is starting Finley in an attempt to cut back on the worn-down Ginobili's minutes. Ginobili, who has an ankle injury, didn't talk to reporters. He appreared to be moving well during shooting drills at the team's practice facilty.

Popovich employed his trademark sarcasm when asked if Ginobili was feeling better today after a full day of rest. The Spurs, who must pull themselves out of an 0-2 hole to the Lakers if they are going to defend their NBA title, didn't practice Saturday.

"I didn't go home with Manu," the coach said. "I didn't stay overnight. I didn't wake up with him this morning. So I would have to answer that question in the negative and say I haven't seen any change in Manu."

Oh well, hopefully Finley breaks loose and Ginobili is able to come in and start firing right away.

Whatever Finley gives you on offense he will concede defensively. The Lakers are going to attack him whenever he's out there on the floor.

Pop is protecting Manu from himself I guess.

I hope Fin hits his shots though, but if Manu's coming off the bench I'd rather see him come in earlier than the 6 minute mark.

I don't know if I would call that "trademark sarcasm" I think that's just Pop being an asshole. :lol

Win this one for Pop's stress levels, Manu!

I am so disappointed in Pop with the same starting lineup from game 2.
I was hoping he would start KT.
I hate to say this, but the spurs will lose in a close one tonight. :depressed

call it reverse mojo or whatever you want
