This is the 11th time these teams have met in the postseason. San Antonio is 3-7 versus the Lakers in the playoffs. The Spurs defeated LA in the 1995, 1999 and 2003 semifinals.

The Lakers knocked off San Antonio in the first round of the 1986 and 1988 postseason, 1982, 1983, 2002, 2004 semis and the 2001 West finals.

There is some serious history here.

As a Spur fan since 77-78 there is one thing that is certain.

Besides the Spurs loss to the Bullets in the 78-79 Eastern Conf. Finals, there has not been a more hated rival that I will hold responsible for blowing up our season.

Lets take "Beat L.A." to another level.

Let's flush-

Phil's smirk and his 9 titles, Kobe's dream of a fourth, and the whole Laker persona once and for all!

STRIVE FOR FIVE :lobt::lobt::lobt::lobt::lobt:

Some of those series were epic like in 82-83. Watching Gilmore and Kareem go at it was awesome.

Some not so much. There was a three year stretch in the mid 80's where LA was the #1 seed and SA just barely made the playoffs (Gervin had left) those were 3-0 sweeps and were ugly! :lol

You forgot the Spurms were abandoned ABA bastard sons that the NBA had to adopt 'cause no one else would.
