View Full Version : The Official Toss Fin Under The Bus Thread

Horry at least played some decent D on Odom in some stretches.
But Fin has been MIA since the 1st game of the playoffs.
Why is Pop still giving him valuable minutes out there?

only good thing about the spurs losing this series is finley getting off the team.

Toss him under the bus?
Dude tossed the keys, laid down under it and said "start it up!"

What "meaningful" minutes?

Finley only good for offense. If he can't do that then why would he be out there? Every player that Finley guards seems to get hot awfully fast.

He threw himself under the bus, at least he tried, but he missed that too.

Though with Pop's manlove for him, he'll probably be back and starting again next season.

Finley only good for offense once every 5 games; the rest of the time he is just a liability. If he can't do that then why would he be out there? Every player that Finley guards seems to get hot awfully fast.

I just wanted him to use his size to crash some boards tonight. That's all I was asking (or screaming) for.

Wow, after all he did last year, and what he did for the team in the first two rounds.
God you guys have short memories.

Finley would be OK if he was just missing shots... but he's not taking wide open looks that he has to throw up. Same with Horry.

Every second he's there, Lakers make a run.
He had the first turnover, seconds into the game. Followed by a brick.
When he came back in the 2nd quarter, he messed a rotation and left Walton all alone for a dunk. And this is just off the top of my head.

Yeah. All those big shots really helped us beat the Lakers this series

He didn't even play 9 minutes tonight. He didn't start the 3rd quarter and he didn't even play 2 minutes in the entire 2nd half. He played 2 seconds in the 4th quarter.
He's sucked the whole series but he sure wasn't the reason we lost tonight. He could log a DNP-coaches decision and he'd still be blamed for a loss.

The problem with Finley is that he's streaky, and if he's not scoring, he's not helping.

All he did in the first two rounds? He had one game worthy of him even being on the court out of every 4-5 games played.
And he played well last year, who gives a shit. Are we in 2007 or 2008? That kind of idiotic thinking is the kind of thing that gets scrubs like Malik Rose 50 million dollar deals.
Gee, Finley contributed last year, I hope the Spurs give him a four year extension this year.
Dude hasn't played defense or crashed the boards since March, and people are still defending his sorry ass.
If he isn't hitting his J, there's no reason for him to be in there. A big fat whopping -18 tonight for SA with him on the court, including that nice 22-8 start to the game and the run at the end of the second quarter by LA.

22-8 to start the game, we were playing catch up the rest of the way.

He had some good games this playoffs, but Pops manlove kept Finley in situations he had no business being in, especially starting tonight. Got abused on D again. Good coaching would put him in the right situations. I got a kick out of game 2 when he was getting used on D 1st part of game, Poppycock leaves him in. Then he finally strokes a nicee three and Lord Poppy immediately takes him out. Yes it was prearranged, but that is the whole point. Poppycock has zero ability to adjust on the fly, personified by his use of Fins vs the Lakers.

I didn't blame him for this loss. I just have been waiting for him to score 10 fucking points in any game, and it's not happening. He's missing wide open looks, hesitating on the trey. We already know he can't guard anybody. So the question I: Elimination game coming up. Do you keep the faith on this guy, or you just go with something different, like Udoka?

It's not manlove. Pop knows finley gets so down on himself that he is afraid to bench his ass because finley will never be able to mentally overcome that.

Don't worry, Finley will be gone soon enough, along with Horry, Barry, and Thomas. They'll play their last game here Thursday.

Send that worthless Finley back to the Mavs so their weenie owner, Fidel Cuban, can start having orgasms again. That's if he's ever had one.

How many years does he have left on his contract?

There's already a "Finley Blows" thread that bashes Fin, so why did we need this one?
IMO, we should appreciate the things that Finley has brought to the table in his time with the Spurs. If it weren't for his playoff heroics, the Spurs arguably wouldn't have won last year and been in it past the Suns this year.
Having said that, he's got nothing left in the tank and there's no reason why the Spurs shouldn't let his contract expire at the end of the season. If they choose not to re-up him, I doubt there will be any takers for his services, which will likely force his hand into retirement. All in all, I'd say he has had a solid career and he ended up with the ring he sought when he came to SA.
The challenge for the Spurs will be finding a suitable replacement....a good shooter with decent athleticism and defensive instincts.

There's a reason for that, every minute he was on the court was another minute of pump fakes at the 3 point line with no one guarding him, followed by bad drives to the lane and turnovers. Couple that with horrendous defense, and you have a formula for sitting on the bench...But keep defending him, I'm sure he appreciates it.

He's not the same Michael Finley anymore. Back in the day, he would shoot those shots that are now pump fakes, and his drives would be much better, but we all know he isn't that player anymore. I'm a huge Finley fan, but you don't realize that he's best when coming off of screens in a motion offense. And it's not that he can't make the shots he's missing, they're just not going in. Most of them are great shots when he's wide open, it's just that the balls aren't going in.
Now with that being said, we do need to get younger and I think Finley would probably be the first one gone from our wing players.

Michael Finley hasn't played any decent defense since the 2002 season in Dallas.
His career has been finished for years. It will 'officially end" after this season.

When his shots are going in, he's the most dangerous player on the team.
When his shots are off, he's the most dangerous player on the other team.
And his shots are off more often than in.
He's gotta go.
