06- retarded foul on dirk at the end
08- single handedly loses us the series by using all his energy trying to win the sixth man award in the regular season

The Lakers are beating the Spurs the same way the Mavericks did in '06 - run the pick-and-roll to death, get Duncan isolated against a guard and Parker or Ginobili on a big.
The Spurs' switching defense is what allows the Lakers to score.

Manu broke my heart this year. It's not as hard to take as the dirk foul, but I am close to suggesting we trade him. I just don't know how the Spurs should use him, is his career going to be limited to 6th man from now on? They need another consistent star, and Manu might be getting to the point where he is going to go down hill fast.

You gotta be kidding, he's been fouling Duncan all series. He just gets away cuz he's a soft bitch.
Every big man in the league gets away with a ton of contact that could be called for dozens of fouls every game - and Tim Duncan, my favorite player or not, gets away with more than most. It takes those who are NOT soft to play through it.
Gasol has defended Duncan like very few in his career have. In addition, his hep defense on the pick-and-roll has been absolutely superb - credit him with shutting down Parker when it needed doing.
He's played very good defense.

BTW, howabout Manu blocking Gasol?
I thought he had no lift.
He just sucked this series... Lakers forced him right.. and he burnt himself out playing 30 minutes a night in the regular season. He was a liability to the team this series... you could never say that for Tim or even Tony.
I guess we can put all that 'franchise player' talk and Kobe and Duncan comparisons to rest.

how could anyone thank them for a good season??
this season was a waste, like ricky bobby says, if you ain't first, you're last
this was just another wasted year in tim's career all thank to peter holt, waste all his money on booze he can't afford to bring actual talent to put around tim and manu, because of that manu has to kill him self long before the playoffs start just to keep in the playoff picture
it's rebuilding time, if we have the same starting line up i hope we don't make the playoffs cause fab is a bum, can't rebound for shit so he plays vollyball
we need a legit guard to either start or back up manu...............
oh well, that'll never happen, we'll just draft and stash again
and probably won't make it out of the first round next year

Well done Lakers. You took advantage of a tired Spurs team and played a good series.
I think it would have been different if Manu weren't banged up, and the team wasn't fatigued, but you did what you needed to do to win. You'll have to play better to beat the Pistons/Celts though - can't give up 20pt leads like you did to us.

He's better than Manu. If we traded Parker for Vlad, we'd be left without a PG, so I would not advise it. But an average Laker player is, in general, better than any of our stars. I'm on record already for offering any of our players (outside of Duncan) for any of their players at the same position (except Mihn and Mbenga).

Despite of Manu's great game 3 (30 pts 9/15FG) here are his other stats:
Game 1: 10pts 3/13FG
Game 2: 7pts 2/8FG
Game 4: 7pts 2/8FG
Game 5: 9pts 3/9FG
which is an average of 8,25 pts with 26,3% (10/38) while Manu had his best season (19,6pts 46%FG).

Well, if what the Spurs have to count on is a healthy Manu, then we won't win too many more titles! Players over 30 don't tend to get over injuries any better as they age. I'd package him now for somebody like Trevor Ariza or Ben Gordon, while he still has some value. Begin the rebuilding process.
I'd like to keep Tony, but let's not pretend he's a great, great PG. He's very good, that's all. But it's obvious that we need bigger, stronger, younger, more athletic, better shooting players. In short, like what the Lakers have.
At least we've seen the last of Finley in a Spurs uniform. And Horry. And maybe Thomas, Stoudamire (what a pickup!) and Barry. Bowen will be gone soon enough. And then we can rebuild the team for another dynasty.

There are no excuses for their performance. The Spurs just didn't have what it took to win, and didn't even make it very interesting to boot. They rolled over at the worst time, being so close to another finals appearance.
