O ye of little faith and much despair, grow a pair. The Spurs have been in this spot before and bounced back. When they've had to overhaul the supporting cast, they've done so. When they've had to add some youth, they did. About the only thing that is obvious right now is that Spurs fans are tremendously spoiled. So the supporting cast needs to be upgraded? No problem. The hard part of finding three stars capable of winning multiple championships has been solved. If you think it's over and are prepared to whine about it incessantly, do the right thing and take a bath with your toaster. For the rest of us, they'll be back.

Well, geez. Now I can sleep better.
It's not like they've been hunting for a starting-quality small forward and a backup PG for over 5 years now.
If you say we're fine, then I believe you.

I agree with him. They'll be back next year 'cause you know, the Western Conference will be weaker.
Or not.

IT will be better and we will get better, a little younger and a healthy Manu next post-season and we will likely be doing this

I like the devotion you guys have for your team, but you have to admit the next few years will be REALLY tough in the western conference.
Of course they will, they always do.
Besides, 2009 is an odd year :lol
They'll be back.
Back in black maybe?

Nobody can predict the future of whats going to happen. The NBA is starting to become more like the NFL when it comes to predictability on whose going to win a title. I think for a longtime you won't see any team winning back to back championships. It seems today that trades,FA,injuries have a stronger influence then they have ever had in the past. Look at the ridiculous trades that happened this year with Ray Allen,KG, Gasol etc. Whose to say there won't be another team in the future that won't alter their makeup dramaticaly by doing a blockbuster trade that enhances their team to an elite level.
Its really hard to predict for all we know this summer the Cavs could pull off some ridiculous trades. They could end up with Baron Davis, Elton Brand etc. If Lebron ends up with 1 or 2 all-star players I don't think anybody will be able to defeat him. He's already tough to beat with scrubs. As bizzare as that scenario sounds think about it last summer who would have thought the Celtics would have been able to get KG and Ray.
My point is it seems its very difficult to win with the same roster every year in the NBA knowing there is always a blockbuster trade,FA signings, draft that is lingering around the corner that can shift all the power. Regardless who wins the title this year I don't think we will be seeing any dynasties in long time.

Well said. If the Big Three are healthy next year in the playoffs, I already like their chances.

Yeah, so unpredictable that the Spurs/Lakers have won 7 out of the last 9 (soon to be 8 of 10) titles.

Longtime as in next season when the Lakers get Bynum back

Spurs need upgrades. Gone are the days of minor off-season tweaks. Until then they are done as contenders. Even this season they went to WCF (barely!) but losing 4-1 isn't "contending".
Get a starting SF, move Bowen to backup SF, and get another inside offensive player. Possibly trade Ginobli and pieces.

Arent the Spurs gonna have a lot of cap room and a lot of empty roster spaces to work with?

After reading this post, I rubbed my eyes, looked again, and realized the Spurs have had a stellar track record refuelling the team in the last two to three off-seasons and no doubt will continue the stellar work this year, too.
