Tony's biggest individual improvement, his jumpshot, might actually have been a detriment to the team at time's this year. He actually has so much confidence in his jumpshot now, especially from the elbow area, that sometimes he settles for it instead of agressively working the ball into the paint for teardrops, fouls, assists, etc. Especially with Manu being hurt and not being able to get into the paint, we needed more from Parker. Tony had some totally sick penetrations last night, but we needed more. The Spurs are only at their best when Manu and Tony are agressive and in the paint.
That is what made Tony the Finals MVP last year.

Tony was thankful he had that shot versus '04. If he didn't have that shot, he would've been begging for change on the street this series. This wasn't pick and roll against Shaq.

agreed....they shoulda let parkers shot alone, not only did it effect his shot, but it also effected his tear drop....which led to him getting scared, and since he really aint a passing guard, well you know....i wouldnt say it killed us, but it surely didnt help....go spurs go

Exactly. Good coaches can - mostly - keep Tony out of the lane over the course of a 7 game series. Unless you are going to have Duncan up his production, Manu up his production, and the shooters stay hot the entire series, you're not going to beat good competition. And the last 2 things weren't happening this season.

Think about it like this. In spite of this team's many flaws and Manu playing on one good wheel, this team made it to the WCF and has NOBODY to blame but themselves that they are not sitting up 3-2 right now with a chance to close out at home.

forget the pick and roll.......just isolate Parker and let him take his man off the dribble.....nobody can stop him. the pick player + extra defender just get in his way.
he could have blown by Fisher every time down the court.
