I hate this word . But I have to face up to it now .
This is our real life. You can never get everything you want. Failures are supposed to happen to you one after another . You can’t escape being trapped in it .
Yes, we are going fishing.
Whereas, our spirit is , and will be ,long lasting in that court………
Always the power of money cannot be neglected. NBA is a commercial league, and all of its goal is to earn more. So they tried their best to persuade all of their 30 teams to be more and more offensive, for the reason that if we , fans , feel that we are attracted by the splendid, aggressive offense, we will fall in love with them , buying everything we can see to support them, watching every game, wearing the clothes marked with their logo…….Meanwhile, they extremely hate the teams which plays weel but mostly rely on their defense, or ,we may say , they played “ugly basketball”. For example , let’s look back on 2005, Spurs and Pistons met in the Finals, both of which are the strongest in their own conference, but they played defense more than offense. As a result, the audience rating decreased rapidly, no one was going to talk about this series in their daily life. They game can barely caught attentions. And so ,the league , David Stern’s league, was completely lost……They swear to god they will never let this happen again.
Absolutely, they did it ! They started doing this on Spurs…… They let the Spurs meet Mavs just in semifinals of West Conference, for that they didn’t want to see the Spurs running on the playoff any more…….The did everything they could to stop Spurs. They forced the judge to control the process of the whole game, fouled our superstar when obviously not their fault. That successfully driven us mad , made us confused, compeled us not even know how to correctly pass the ball…… Finally , they got what they want. When asked about what he want to be competed in the finals, David Stern answered: Lakers VS Lakers. And now , it is going to be “Lakers VS Celtics”. Fabulous! Isn’t this what he always dreaming about ? You won ! Happy to destroy a big chance to see the rise of a real DYNASTY?
Yes, most of the critics don’t regard Spurs as a dynasty just because they have never repeat the Champions. 2000, Tim Duncan’s injury; 2004, Fisher’s 0.4s ; 2006, Manu’s stupid fault, and also , 2008, our lack of energy……Though we’ve got 4 Champions in 9 years , we’ve got everyone else’s respect, still, we have no way to make our dream come true…… These few hours I figured out this: Maybe what is the best is what you can never catch…… We can only fulfill our dream in our dreams . To be optimistic, on the other side, where there is a will , there is a way .
Next ? It must be TRADE. Our big problem in this season is that :
1、 The age structure of our players is not reasonable. We want young , active , potential guys instead of old , weak guys who only want to win a Championship by chance before retiring.
2、 Our way of offense should be more diversified. As you know , since 2003, the “Big 3” started control the ball, mastered the whole team , though their relationship is becoming stronger, the way of offense has not changed so much yet. In these few years, other players come and go , but the key to success of us is still the same. The team relies so much on how they played . Others doing research on them as time went by , as a result, they have less chance to penetrate.
3、 No “big guy ” to stay inside with Duncan. Since David Robinson’s retirement, Popovich started finding a guy to cooperate with Tim Duncan, making a new “Twin Tower” inside to scare the rivals. So many years later, he only find Oberto who have no defense and Thomas who have no offense……
4、 We need a guard to take a place of Tony Parker when he needs rest. Studermire is not available , Udoka have not earn Popovich’s credit , Barry go and come , but doing nothing except shooting three-point shoots some times……
5、 No willpower. Last year , our team motto is : fight for Fin! How about this year ? The old guys have got everything they want. Popovich must be confused: how to encourage them ? I think “fight for DYNASTY” might work , but how can I know whether it can come to Pop’s mind?
6、 Not having enough time to rest. Almost everyone knows that the Spurs slept in a plane the day before Game 1 , just after they’ve beaten the Hornets in the seventh game. Between every game there only exists only A day off . What can they do in these few minutes ?
Conclusion: We have a lot of problems. Some could be changed, some are permanent. Nevertheless , we must do something in this summer.
I don’t want to have a quarrel with anyone , I just want to share my opinion : I want it to be changed ! Tim Duncan is the logo of this city , he is the founder of the “not-so-real” dynasty , so he will retire here , togethered with his number “#21” . Tony Parker is the origin of every offense, so he is not going anywhere. The only thing the Spurs can give is —— I will miss you , definitely——Manu Ginobili. He’s old , he’s not so health as well , sometimes he can not stand out when the game really needs him …… He devote himself to this team , to the three Champions , to this city , to the fans who loved him so much…… I love his incredible lay-ups, I guess Pop agrees with me…… Business is always business. Even if we don’t want to lose him ……. (I said this because I am a fan of SPURS, but not Manu Ginobili’s……)
Tim can stay longer with his two kids, Tony may spend his holiday in Miami or Hawaii with his lover Eva, Manu should go back to Argentina , contributing himself to “Basketball without bounders” …… Everyone will remember us as a sacrifice of money , but all of us know , if we really want to be a real DYNASTY as Celtics did in 1960s, we still have a long way to go .
Let’s face up to it , SONS OF SAN ANTONIO , we will come back sooner or later !!!
PS: English is not my mother language. And this is the first time I share my mind in English. If I cannot make you clear , please forgive me ! :blah
