"They are a great team, but I don't have the feeling that they are way better, either than us, New Orleans, Utah," San Antonio's Manu Ginobili said. "I mean they made it to the finals because they deserve it, but I don't have that feeling that they were so much superior. But we have to give them credit. They played great."

The Spurs offered their encouragement to the Lakers in the finals.

"I hope they do a good job," Bruce Bowen said. "I think their coaching staff will do whatever they need to do to try and get the job done.
"Hopefully, they'll keep it (the NBA championship) in the West."

Good to see Manu still making excuses.

You need to take reading comprehension 101. Where is he making excuses?
He's giving you credit for playing great and making it to the finals. He just doesn't think you're far and out superior to the Spurs, Utah or NO.
I'll take the opinion of somebody that actually plays the game and against those teams instead of that one of a armchair GM.

He speaks the truth. You guys were the better team this year and deserved to go to the Finals. Were you head and shoulders better than us and New Orleans ? Hell no. Most Spurs fans would tell you that Manu wasn't 100 % for weeks and if he had been, it could have easily been us winning 4-1. But that's woulda, coulda, shoulda talk.

If you guys don't win the Finals, than your season was a fucking waste just like ours. It's Ring or bust and no credit for 2nd, 3rd or 4th place. Future talk is stupid and a waste of time. Too many factors can blow up a team and ruin a year. Just ask Dallas or Golden State. Wasn't Goldent State supposed to be an up and coming team ? They didn't even make the playoffs.

And all the talk about Bynum being such a stud is premature. He had a nice season going but he got injured. When is he supposed to improve ? He'll be busy just trying to get back to where he was before he was injured.

Good luck against the Celtics. I think you'll be done in 5 o 6. The Celtics play solid D AND have the offense to compliment it. The Lakers turn the ball over way too much..You will definitely see Kobe on an Island all by himself in the finals.

I think I'd rather see Kobe win than Garnett, Allen and Pierce, so I hope I'm wrong.

When you lose, you lose. There is no point saying that the team that beat you isn't really better than the other teams you faced. Just say you lost and forget about it. To me it sounds a little bit like sour grapes.

You do understand that English is his second language and that it's VERY difficult to use shadings and nuances in a non-native language. Pull your panties out of your crack and man up, fool. He never said you weren't the better team, just that the difference wasn't huge, and frankly, I think he's fucking right.

It's incredible to me -- for years, when the Spurs beat other teams, we hear about how the Spurs didn't win so much as the other team lost and that the Spurs aren't that much better than the teams they've beaten. That comes from the fans of other teams, but it also comes from the players and coaches of those teams. That's true of the Lakers and other teams as well. Meanwhile, when the Spurs have lost, they've never really gone there -- they just respectfully say that they didn't do enough to win.

Now Manu dares to say something that every reasonable basketball fan can agree with and he gets called on the carpet for daring to believe that his team, with a break here or there, might have been the team to win the West.

The double standards that apply to the Spurs are simply mind-boggling.

Jesus, Laker fans are complete fucking morons. Manu says that the Lakers played great and won deservedly, but because he didn't believe your fucking team is the second coming of the Showtime Lakers you think he's making excuses? Fuck you, and your sense of entitlement.

Some of you lakerfans are way too sensitive that its funny. When you lose you guys bitch and cry Asterick and when you win you bitch and cry that nobody is going to concede that their teams down right inferior to your team. Manu spoke the truth he said you guys were the better team but not by much which is true. Really you guys only dominated the spurs in 1 game and that was game 2. Game 1 the spurs blew a 20 point lead, game 3 the spurs blew the lakers out of the building, game 4 it was very close throughout and could have gone either way due to some lock bounces, game 5 the spurs blew a 18 point lead. If you look at the Lakers were just good enough to get by the spurs. When you are just a little bit good enough to win that doesn't make you a superior team. To be a superior team you have to dominate and win every game by huge margins which this laker team didn't do. The '01 Lakers team that swept the spurs was a superior team because they blew them out in every game. This lakers team was just better but not superior.

Bowen with the "Keep it in the West" card. :lmao

Too bad they didn't ask Horry, he probably would have said "Any other time I'd say keep it in the west, but not if it goes to those guys. I got Boston."

I can't root for the Celtics because of the punks on their team, and I can't root for the Lakers because of the Laker trash that posts on this forum (with 2 or 3 exceptions).

Turn off your television. That's the only way to hit Stern and the NBA in the nuts and stop these fucking trades of players to the Celtics and Lakers by former glory days players. Kevin McHale and Jerry West should both burn in hell.
