If you look at the Lakers were just good enough to get by the spurs. When you are just a little bit good enough to win that doesn't make you a superior team. To be a superior team you have to dominate and win every game by huge margins which this laker team didn't do. The '01 Lakers team that swept the spurs was a superior team because they blew them out in every game. This lakers team was just better but not superior.
